The Fairy Flag, Dunvegan Castle and the Fairy Bridge
The Fairy Flag is to be found in Dunvegan Castle but is thought to have come from The Fairy Bridge which is 3 miles away from the Castle. This site is magical but also a bit tragic as this is supposed to be the last location where the Chief of Clan Macleod saw his Fairy wife before leaving to return to Fairyland. It is also said that The Fairy Flag has the ability to save him from danger when it is waved. - Eilean Donan Castle - We stop at Eilean Donan Castle on our way to Skye for a photo opportunity
- Skye Bridge - The Skye bridge viewpoint offers some fantastic views of the bridge with the Cuillin mountains in the background
- Portree - When Dunvegan Castle is closed we will not go there or to The Fairy Bridge we will go to Portree instead where you will have the opportunity to see the beauty of Portree Harbour.
- The Fairy Bridge - The Fairy Bridge has long been associated with the Chiefs of Clan Macleod as it was here that his wife The Fairy Princess tore off a piece of her wedding dress and gave it to her husband before she returned to Fairyland. This piece of her wedding dress is known as The Fairy Flag and can be found in Dunvegan Castle - Ancestral home of Clan Macleod for more than 800 years.

The Fairy Pools, located at the base of the Cuillin mountains, often tempt some visitors to take a dip. The Fairy Glen, situated on the Trotternish peninsula, offers serene scenery, stunning panoramic views, and captivating walks. The Fairy Bridge is known as the last place the Macleod Clan chief saw his Fairy spouse, before her return to Fairyland. The Fairy Flag can be viewed at Dunvegan Castle, the 800-year-long residence of the Clan Macleod.
En route to the Isle of Skye, we’ll also pause at Eilean Donan Castle for a photo break. If Dunvegan castle is inaccessible, we will visit Portree instead, bypassing the castle and The Fairy Bridge.

Absolutely book this tour - I would 100% recommend this tour in any tour that this surface provider offers. They were extremely knowledgeable about each site. They were flexible with request, offered to take pictures, brought you a great local food establishments for lunch. The tour operator was extremely patient and helpful the entire day. I have gone on several tours in this quite possibly is amongst my top three. Each side was stunning and I could not have imagined it being a better time.

Fantastic Tour!!!!! - Incredible tour of the Isle of Skye! We had Lawerence as our driver and he was amazing! He was so kind and thoughtful and provided lots of great info at all of our stops. He knows what he’s doing and has a lot of passion for his job. The stops were amazing, all the views spectacular. We even got to see some of the Highland Coos! Absolutely recommend, and a big thank you to Lawrence

Best Isle of Skye Tour imaginable - An amazing family holiday!! We booked a 3 day private tour from Edinburgh to the Isle Skye and back, with a 2 night stay in the beautiful, quaint village of Portree. It was extraordinary, and exceeded all our expectations. Not only did we see the incomparable Scottish highlands, Inverness, Loch Ness, Fairy Pools and Fairy Glen, to name a few, but we also experienced unforgettable elements of Scottish history at Culloden, Urquhart Castle and the remarkable Eilean Donan Castle. This was all made possible because of our extraordinary driver and tour guide Lawrence. From the first contact email to our last Edinburgh hotel drop-off, we could not have had a more professional, responsive and accommodating experience; which from personal experience is not always the case when organising tours and holidays. We travelled in a comfortable modern van, and greatly appreciated Lawrence’s driving skills and local knowledge as he effortlessly manoeuvred the narrow Isle of Skye roads. Despite travelling in the middle of winter, Lawrence was mindful to structure the itinerary to maximise the sights seen in daylight, and to incorporate his extensive and proud knowledge of Scottish history into his driving commentary. As our family group had various historical links and a great interest in the Isle of Skye, Lawrence was able to educate us on many aspects of this heritage, ranging from name and clan derivation to geography, which in turn made the entire experience personal and extremely memorable. It was a true and remarkable experience, and we highly recommend Lawrence and his company to anyone wanting to experience the Scottish highlands and Isle of Skye. Thank you Lawrence.

A great trip to Skye, an excellent experience! - Graham was an excellent tour guide, we very much enjoyed the trip to Skye. We learned a lot about the area, historic and present, great conversation, music and information all day long. Completely worth it, would highly recommend and definitely rebook!

Lovely trip to Skye! - We had a wonderful trip on our journey to Skye. The price point was a bit expensive, and we feel it was worth it.
Graham was our tour guide and he was lovely. Kind, considerate, accommodating and informative. He tailored the trip to our interests and needs. I think mom said it the best: it felt like we were traveling with a local friend. Highly recommend him!!
We were very grateful for our rainpants, raincoats and waterproof shoes (hoka GTX) in the fair pools. It was rainy and windy and ultimately n return to the van still felt dry.
Graham was great to coordinate a lunch at The Old Inn and we always thoughtful about giving us times to next stop and toilet access.
We truly had a great day. It’s a bit longer of a day (12hr+) and completely worth it.

Amazing tour with Lawrence! - Had a wonderful time with Lawrence! He was incredibly knowledgeable and took the time to make sure that our tour was something for us to truly remember. His experience with the area was able to help us determine what the best way to spend our time. He is an absolute joy to talk with and our tour was something well talk about for years!

Best way to see Isle of Skye - Our family really enjoyed spending the day with Lawrence, who drove us ALL over Skye chasing fairy magic. We loved hiking the Ferry Pools, climbing the Fairy Glenn and taking in all the sights along the most scenic routes. Lawrence helped us find a wonderful lunch spot, and even made us reservations while we were inside visiting the castle. Lawrence is so smart, funny and well read…and his wonderful storytelling kept us entertained between points while he was driving. We were so glad we did not do the drive ourselves, as it allowed us to truly enjoy the drive. Lawrence dropped us off at entrances, and was waiting for us when we finished which helped us to make the most of our day. We covered so much territory, but we had such a blast and the day just flew by. We will treasure the pictures and memories of Skye. Thank you Lawrence!

10/10 tour with Graham the Kilted Warrior - We had Graham the Kilted Warrior for our tour and he was fantastic. Just a really nice guy and a pleasure to be around for 12+ hours besides how knowledgeable and accommodating he was. I also appreciated that he could point out things and talk about it and still keep his eyes on the road. I never once felt unsafe or that he was distracted in any way. He’s a really, really good, safe driver. My only regret is we didn’t get a pic with the Kilted Warrior. I am recommending him to my friends family who is coming over in August. 10/10

Worth every penny! Great tour, must see! - My wife and I did a Skye Fairy tour and it was breathtaking! The tour was informative and uniquely customized just for us. Lawrence was a great tour guide and was a pleasure to spend the day with. Highly recommend this tour, worth every penny. If you are having a hard time deciding which places to go, our favorite was definitely the Fairy Glen.

Fairyland! - We had an amazing day travelling to Fairy Glen…the Highlands is incredibly beautiful. The cold, blustery winds and drizzle didn’t dampen our enjoyment of this tour. Our guide Lawrence was outstanding…friendly, thoughtful and professional. A must visit!!
