Journey from Edinburgh or Glasgow through The Trossachs to Glencoe, Eilean Donan Castle, and The Isle of Skye

Stirling Castle - The tour passes by the historic Stirling Castle, where Mary Queen of Scots was crowned, and The Wallace Monument, which overlooks the site of The Battle of Stirling Bridge, where William Wallace led the Scots to victory over the English on September 11, 1297.

Callander - A stop is made at Kilmahog, just outside Callander, where during the summer, visitors can see and feed the Highland Cows.

Loch Lubnaig - While driving through The Trossachs, there is a stop at the picturesque Loch Lubnaig for a photo opportunity.

Loch Tulla Viewpoint - Leaving The Trossachs, the journey continues through The Bridge of Orchy to the viewpoint overlooking Loch Tulla and Glenorchy.

The Three Sisters - Traveling north from Loch Tulla viewpoint, the tour passes by Rannoch Moor and continues to Glencoe, where the first stop is at the stunning Three Sisters viewpoint.

Glencoe Visitor Centre - Driving through magnificent Glencoe, there is a stop at The Visitor Centre for lunch and a view of the Turf House, a reconstructed 17th-century dwelling, and a short film about The History of Glencoe.

Commando Monument - Continuing towards The Isle of Skye, the tour passes through Fort William and stops at The Commando Memorial and Ben Nevis viewpoint at Spean Bridge.

Eilean Donan Castle - Eilean Donan Castle is one of the most photographed castles in Scotland and has been featured in several movies, including the Bond film “The World is Not Enough.”

Skye Bridge - A stop is made at The Skye Bridge viewpoint, where on a clear day, there is an excellent view of the bridge with the Cuillin mountains in the background, along with the tale of Saucy Mary.

Sligachan Old Bridge - At Sligachan Old Bridge, in the shadow of The Black Cuillin, visitors can go down to the river, where local legend says washing your face in the water for 7 seconds grants eternal beauty.

Portree - The tour stops overnight in Portree, the largest settlement on The Isle of Skye, where visitors can see the charming little harbor with painted houses.

The Old Man of Storr - Departing Portree, the tour heads north up the Trotternish peninsula towards Staffin, stopping to view The Old Man of Storr.

Kilt Rock - A stop is made at Kilt Rock, named for the rock formations on the cliff that resemble kilt pleats. Here, visitors can also see Mealt Falls as they drop 180 feet into the waters of The Minch below.

Quiraing - Crossing from one side of Trotternish to the other, the tour climbs up the single-track road to The Quiraing Escarpment, where the view is magnificent, and there is time for a brisk walk.

Idrigil - Having crossed from the east to the west side of Trotternish, the tour stops at Idrigil Bay viewpoint, overlooking the small place of Uig, where ferries depart for The Outer Hebrides.

Fairy Glen - The Isle of Skye is long associated with fairy tales, and the first stop is at The Fairy Glen, where visitors can walk to the top of Castle Ewen and marvel at the landscape.

The Fairy Bridge - The second fairy stop is at The Fairy Bridge, where it is said that the Chief of Clan Macleod bid farewell to his fairy wife when she returned to Fairyland. She tore off a piece of her dress, known as The Fairy Flag, which is said to protect the chief of Clan Macleod from danger but can only be used three times. The Fairy Flag is housed in Dunvegan Castle, the next stop.

Dunvegan Castle & Gardens - Dunvegan Castle has been home to the Clan Macleod for over 800 years. Here, visitors can see the remains of The Fairy Flag. Lunch is also enjoyed here.

Talisker Distillery - Leaving Dunvegan, the tour travels south to Carbost to visit Talisker Distillery, where visitors can purchase a tasting of the “Water of Life” (whisky).

Fairy Pools - The final fairy stop of the day is at The Fairy Pools, where visitors can walk to and swim if they wish. The tour stops here for 2 hours to enjoy the pools.

Portree - Returning for a second night in Portree, the tour stops at The Skye Candle Visitor Centre.

Isle of Skye - Conclude the day exploring the Isle of Skye.

Skye to Loch Ness, Culloden, and return to Edinburgh or Glasgow

Urquhart Castle - Departing Portree, the tour enjoys a leisurely drive through the Kintail mountains and Glenmoriston, continuing along Loch Ness to Urquhart Castle, which sits on a promontory offering stunning views of Loch Ness.

Inverness Cathedral - The tour passes by Inverness Cathedral, the most northerly Anglican Cathedral in the UK.

Old High St Stephen’s Church - A stop is made at The Old High Church in Inverness due to its links to The Battle of Culloden. Many Jacobite soldiers were executed here after the battle, and musket ball marks can still be seen on the church wall.

Abertarff House - The tour passes by Abertarff House, the oldest house still standing in Inverness, dating from 1593, and once the townhouse of the chiefs of the Clan Frasers of Lovat.

Inverness Castle - As the tour leaves Inverness, it passes by Inverness Castle, which is currently undergoing work to become a tourist attraction, scheduled to open in 2025.

Clava Cairns - A stop is made at Clava Cairns, the 4000-year-old ancient burial ground, sometimes referred to as Craig na Dun from the “Outlander” series by Diana Gabaldon.

Culloden Battlefield - The tour stops at Culloden Battlefield, where the last battle on British soil took place on April 16, 1746. Visitors can walk around the battlefield to the main areas, where the guide will explain how the battle unfolded.

The House of Bruar - Heading south through The Cairngorms to either Edinburgh or Glasgow, the final stop of the day is at The House of Bruar, known as The Highlands’ equivalent of Harrods.
