13 year old daughter's dream excursion! - We took our son to Iceland for a graduation present, dragging his 13 year old sister along. The one thing she wanted to do was horseback riding.
I booked this for a mother/daughter adventure the day before, and it did not disappoint! We were a small group, there were 2 guides to 6 riders. One guide led the ride while a second rode alongside offering tips and help as needed.
Neither of us has ridden much, but we had a wonderful experience. The horses were gentle and sturdy, even fording rushing streams they were sure footed. My daughter grinned ear to ear the entire time, she loved every minute of it.
Definitely take them up on the offer of rain gear and boots - saved our hiking shoes and kept us from getting soaked in the Icelandic showers!

Incredible horseback riding experience with amazing views for all levels! - This tour was incredible! I am a horse lover and owner, the guides were incredibly knowledgeable, safe, kind, and accommodated all riding levels. There was a kid on the tour who got to be lead by a guide and still ride. I am advanced so they took me for a gallop after and it was one of the funnest experiences ever. The horses are well trained, loved, and taken care of. As any horse expert knows - horses are animals so if something terrifying and out of the ordinary happens to them then they may get scared but these horses were so well tempered and trained they weren’t bothered at all on the trail and the scenery with the geothermal activity, the animals, lush green mountains, and nearby hot springs made it the perfect trip. Super close to Reykjavik too, highly recommend and would love to go again

Great Morning Ride - I’ve only ridden a horse once in my life and this was truly a great experience. Our guide was incredible and patient and our horses were very gentle and well behaved.

Great riding experience on well-behaved horses - Great experience riding Icelandic horses, good for beginners as well as more experienced riders. We lucked out and had a really small group, which was extra nice. We got a real taste for riding in Iceland’s beautiful countryside, including riding through a few low rivers and experiencing the famous tolt! It would have been nice to learn a bit about Icelandic horse culture and the area we were riding through, but it was a short tour.

Solhestar Hveragerdi Smoky Valley ride - My husband and I had a really lovely morning at Solhestar Hveragerdi (smoky Valley), our tour lasted 2 hours and although I am an experienced horse rider, the level of horse and riding was just right for us both to enjoy, We were in a group of 4 with a guide (Caroline) who was lovely and ensured that we had all that we required before during and after the ride. During the ride a man who was with us did have a fall from his horse but this wasn't any fault of the horse or the guide, it was because he was carrying car keys in his pocket which fell out hitting and spooking the horse.
The horses were all in very good condition and clearly well looked after, The location was spectacular surrounded by Geothermal activity and pockets of steam rising out the ground and surrounding hills, for those of us not from Iceland this was an otherworldly experience not to be missed. I wouldnt hesitate on booking again at either this location or there other location outside of Reykjavik where you can ride through the Lava fields. I cant wait to return soon

Riding with my daughter - On June 27th at 9.30am my daughter and I went horseback riding in the Valley.
Our tutor (I don't remember the name but she had blue hair) was very professional, few instructions, easy to perform and understand.
Beautiful crossing of the rivers, the increase of the ride and the passage from fumaroles, good "mademoiselles" and thanks to the local who manages everything with a nice smile.
A professional and perfect all-female team.
If one day we return to Iceland we will come back to visit you.

Upsetting. - My experience in this rental was dramatic.
The staff is not attentive to the needs of customers, also during the excursion a boy fell off his horse and I noticed that the guide was not interested in him at all. She simply went to ask if the boy wanted to get back on his horse but did not offer the necessary rescue to help him. The boy refused without anyone's support.
Unpleasant experience, as it was my first excursion and I thought it was a SERIOUS rental instead, of course, it is just business.
Too bad, I wouldn't recommend it.

Disappointing experience and unacceptable behavior from the guide - During a horseback ride, I had a very unpleasant experience. During a short canter, the horse suddenly stopped, causing me to fall to the ground. Despite my fall, the guide showed no concern: she didn’t come to check on me, didn’t ask if I was okay, and didn’t say a word.
What shocked me even more was what happened afterward. Once back at the stables, the guide recounted the incident to a colleague, laughing about it, as if it were something amusing rather than a potentially dangerous situation.
Such behavior is completely unacceptable—especially in a setting where guests place their trust in the professionalism and care of those leading the activity. I expected empathy, attentiveness, and a minimum level of responsibility. Sadly, I cannot recommend this experience to anyone seeking safety, respect, and seriousness.

Very disappointing experience – unprofessional and careless staff - My boyfriend and I went on a horseback riding tour that quickly turned into a very unpleasant experience. During a short gallop, the horse my boyfriend was riding suddenly stopped, causing him to fall off. Shockingly, the guide did not check on him, did not offer any help, and didn’t even ask if he was okay.
He had to walk all the way back to the stable on foot, completely ignored. When the guide returned later, she told the story to a colleague and laughed about it, showing zero empathy or professionalism.
When you take part in an activity involving animals and potential risks, you expect the staff to prioritize safety, responsibility, and basic human decency. Unfortunately, this was absolutely not the case.
I would not recommend this place to anyone – the lack of care and respect was unacceptable
