A fun experience for families - My family and I - which included young children of 7 and 11 - booked fairly last minute to take part in the first workshop of the evening in early September, and we were fortunate enough to have the class to ourselves so we could move at our own pace over the next two and a half hours learning how to make three Italian desserts. Overall, I must admit, the class really was as great as other reviewers have said! Our chef for the evening was Riccardo, and we were joined by a lovely translator, who explained everything that we did and why it was done. There was also a glass of fizz on hand to help us along the way :-) I was really pleased that we made pretty much everything from scratch, so that we stood a chance of replicating it back home. The tiramisu we will definitely recreate at home. The cannolis, however, require a deep fat fryer, so maybe not. And the ice cream requires an ice cream maker (of course), but the company recommends some brands to purchase if you do not have one already. £240 is rather pricey for an activity for one family, and we had to reasonably justify it to ourselves before booking. But, in the end, we decided we wanted to treat ourselves and let the kids had a fun experience they could talk about when they got back home; most importantly, we all learned how to actually make the delicious desserts and were able to take away some pro tips too. So, what do you get by the end of the lesson? Firstly, some ice cream which you will eat there and then. You are given the option of adding various sweet toppings to it, including salted caramel sauce. Secondly, two tubs of yummy tiramisu each. Thirdly, three cannolis each that they recommend eating that evening. Be forewarned that, even if you make more than 3 cannolis (my husband managed to get 5 out of his pastry), the extra ones will go to the translator :-D They also sell the cannoli tubes, if you want to purchase them at the end. All in all, it was a wonderful experience for the whole family and one I can highly recommend. Getting there: Battistini metro stop is about 15 minutes walk from the factory and seemed to be the easiest way to get there from central Rome (an additional 30 minutes away). We each had a one week Rome transport pass, so for us there was no extra cost to get there. The factory itself is in a semi-industrial/semi-residential area, and was straightforward to reach from the station.

Book this experience!!! Highlight of our trip!!! - We had so much fun learning to make classic Italian desserts and are inspired to do them at home. The class was fun, educational, and delicious. Instructions were easy to follow and we felt like true pastry chefs. Our teacher Shiva was a great host who taught us both Italian and history that created consistent and beautiful results. She was a delight to work with and made us feel comfortable in an unfamiliar setting. When you arrive, follow the instructions. It looks like you’re not supposed to be there lol but you are. Just ring the bell and they will grab you. This was worth every cent and we would absolutely do this again.

Beginner friendly and a ton of fun - We had an amazing experience in this course. Shiva is a very talented and knowledgeable chef! It was so much fun and well worth the money. The location is a bit out of the way if you are staying in Rome, but highly worth the voyage. Thank you for a fabulous experience, I highly recommend!

Worth it! - Awesome experience in every way. Our chef, Shiva was energetic, fun, and knowledgeable. The class was held in a professional kitchen too. This was a great. One note, the venue is 3 miles out of town so you may want to factor the taxi ride into the overall cost. We would totally do this again just for the fun of it.

Fun experience! - What a fun experience! Bea was an amazing chef that was encouraging, patient and very personable. We were lucky to have her thought the process. She made the experience fun and interactive and our desserts turned out so yummy. She gave us a lot of tips and tricks and sent the recipes after the class for us to try at home too. Side note: being tourists, we were a little skeptical about the location as it was a little outside of the center city of Rome, but everything was fine. We were about 15 min early to the start time, so we were allowed inside while the chefs prepped the kitchen. Overall great experience and would try a different class that Bea hosts.
