It features a perfect volcanic cone, formed by two volcanic cones; the older one was shaped by an ancient glacier. The tour guide will pick up guests at 7:00 a.m. from their hotel in Quito and drive them through the eastern mountain range to the village of Pintag, where the journey uphill to the Ecological Reserve begins.
- Tambo Condor - At an elevation of 3,810 meters (12,500 feet), there are excellent opportunities to observe fascinating wildlife, such as eagles, carunculated caracaras, white-tailed deer, foxes, and the magnificent Andean Condor, known as the largest flying bird in the world and one of the rarest species, likely surviving since the era of the mega beasts (approximately 10,000 years ago)!
- Antisana Ecological Reserve - Guests will embark on a hike through the Andean slopes to reach Mica Lake (4,050 meters - 13,287 feet), formed at the end of the last ice age, to gain a better view of the volcano and observe beautiful water birds like Andean lapwings, Andean gulls, Andean coots, Andean ducks, and black-faced ibis, which interestingly inhabit Chile and only the Antisana Volcano in Ecuador!
- Antisana Ecological Reserve - Following an incredible experience in Ecuador’s prime Condor territory, guests will drive back downhill to the Isco canyon, where the nests and cliffs where condors rest are located. While enjoying more views of these spectacular birds, guests will savor a traditional and delicious lunch at a local restaurant, accompanied by various species of hummingbirds.
- Quito - Guests will return to their hotel at approximately 4:00 p.m., concluding a spectacular day in the Ecuadorian Andes!
