Must Do Underground River Tour - We loved touring the underground river after a hot week in Cancun! Our guide Diego was great! I suggest booking directly with Rio Secreto because they will pickup from any hotel whereas Viator only offered two pickup options. The lunch was good but could use more variety. We toured Tulum (Zama) in the afternoon. It was scorching hot so we didn't want to spend much time at the site. I wished Tulum was toured in the morning when it was more temperate with the refreshing river tour afterwards. The underground river tour was one of our favorite things to do near Cancun

Thank you Ana! - The rio secreto was probably one of my favourite activities to do in Mexico, especially with our lovely tour guide Ana. She was super approachable, knowledgable, and ensured our safety throughout the whole trip. Tulum is incredibly hot, so prepare with a tumblr (anything but plastic for water, as it is forbidden). A great combo of water and views. I highly recommend! We miss Ana already <3

Great excursion! long day be prepared - Overall a very good tour, though it’s important to know a few things prior Pickup at our hotel was right on time. After picking up a few other groups, van drove to rio secreto where we got wristbands. Then a different driver drives to Tulum. Spent about an hour and a half in Tulum (our day was overcast so not too hot). Suggest bringing water containers. After Tulum headed to Rio Secreto, spent a couple hours getting prepared and going through the caves was amazing! Great to swim and see sights. Unfortunate they don’t allow any cameras in the cave so you have to rely on their photographer (120usd for the photo set) Lunch buffet around 3:30 pm so was definitely starving by the. Back to the hotel (in a 3rd van) made about an 10 hour day Memo was an amazing tour guide ! Such great info and a lot of fun ! Definitely recommend!

Best excursion in Mexico - Wow, what a beautiful place. This was hands down our best thing we did in Mexico. Jorge was our guide and he was awesome! He had the best energy throughout the entire trip. We had a mixed group of Americans and Mexicans and he did the guide in both English and Spanish. He kept the group entertained and was super knowledgeable and gave us really great information. Inside the cave is beautiful. The water was refreshing and crystal clear. I chose to go without a wet suit and my husband chose to wear one. He was glad he had it because he thought the water was too cold. I enjoyed the coolness of the water and was glad I didn’t have it. We did buy the picture package it was $120 for all the photos. They give you a code so you can download them. Unfortunately we weren’t able to access all of the photos but we had enough of the ones we liked. Tulum was super cool but we went after the river tour and got there mid afternoon. It was hot as balls. Make sure to take them up on the umbrella, you’ll be glad you have it. We were so sweaty and hot. We definitely rushed looking at the ruins because we were so hot and thirsty. We loved this excursion and would definitely do it again. Jorge was the best guide we could’ve had, very lucky we had him!

Amazing Rio Secreto - Isabel was a brilliant tour guide. Tulum was really interesting, but the cave tour was amazing. We did the purple trail. Rio Secreto is beautiful and really well organised. The lunch provided was great too.

Fantastic tour and experience - This was a fabulous experience! Our family of 8, ranging in kid age from 4-20, really enjoyed it. The guide was knowledgeable Anna shared very interesting information. The cavern was fascinating and the water felt amazing after the hot muggy weather. Lunch was delicious with homemade tortillas. The pictures taken throughout the tour were wonderful, although very pricey. We purchased 2. Tulum was amazing as well. It was VERY hot. I think my family would have enjoyed it more if we had brought a metal water bottle (you cannot bring a plastic water bottle into Tulum). However, I thought the overall experience was amazing and well worth the money spent on the outing.

Book this excursion! - Diego was a great, knowledgeable and friendly tour guide! He provided us with a lot of history of Tulum and the Rio Secreto cave, and also made sure we were comfortable and safe! This is a must do excursion! It’s a once in a lifetime opportunity to see this cave in this capacity!

Good and bad = ok - The experience was extremely unique, and our tour guide (Diana) was absolutely wonderful. It was not permitted for us to take pictures with our phones throughout the tour as they have photographers who take photographs throughout the tour and charge $30 per picture at the end of the tour. In addition, the buffet was gross.

Beautiful caves, just didn't meet expectations - My family and I visited Rio Secreto. We had our 4 year old and 8 year old with us. There was some miscommunication from the beginning as our resort said Rio Secreto was the only cenote that would allow our 4 year old. I didn't know much about toi Secreto, as I just wanted swimming cenotes. I didn't get my wish. It was really hot and my kids loved getting to put on the headlamp and wetsuit. After getting on the gear, we hiked down to the caves. Our guide provided everyone a walking stick as the ground was pretty rocky. Tomas was a nice guy, but had the personality of a chunk of clay. Getting down to the caves was a little tricky for me as I had a really sore swollen ankle. However, we all made it down some rock cliff stairs to the bottom of the cave. From here it was just a hike through maybe two feet of water with rocky footing. The cave waa indeed beautiful, but I have explored several caves including Carlsbad cavens in New Mexico and wasn't looking for just another cavento explore. It was a slow pace as we went single file with a photographer taking pictures every 2 minutes it seemed. I was concerned about falling with my ankle in the cave and so it too alot of the fun, relaxation and joy out of it for Mr. I kept waiting for the water to get deep enough to swim in, but it never did. There are a few points water might get to maybe 5ft. However we just bobbed around in it for a few moments before trekking back through more sharp somewhat slippery rocks. Both our kids absolutely killed this event..they went right through the cave, dark. Rocks, the whole thing without a single issues. True troopers. It finally ended with us climbing some stairs back to the surface. All in all..it was fine if you were looking for just a cave exploration. I was not so while I did not hate it, I didn't love any aspect of it. It was ok I guess. I never did fall or get hurt, but it was on my mind the whole trip. My wife and kids liked it, however I am fairly certain I would not do Rio Secreto again.
