Sailing into Family Fun: Our Lanzarote Catamaran Adventure
Eager to explore Lanzarote with my kids, I booked a catamaran trip to the Papagayo beaches. Join me as I recount our unforgettable day filled with sun, sea, and family fun.
Setting Sail from Puerto Calero
Our adventure began with a comfortable coach ride from our hotel to the marina of Puerto Calero. The kids were thrilled to be on a bus with other excited families, and I appreciated the chance to relax and enjoy the scenic drive. Arriving at the harbor, we were greeted by the friendly staff at the Catlanza offices, who efficiently turned our tickets into boarding passes. The anticipation was palpable as we made our way to the catamaran, shoes off, ready to embark on our day at sea.
The crew welcomed us aboard with warm smiles and a quick safety briefing in both English and German. As we set sail into the Atlantic, the kids were fascinated by the vastness of the ocean and the gentle sway of the catamaran. It was a perfect opportunity to teach them about the importance of safety at sea and the basics of sailing, turning our journey into an educational experience.
A Day at Papagayo Beaches
The sail to Papagayo took about an hour, and the time flew by as we enjoyed the stunning views and the refreshing sea breeze. Once we arrived, the catamaran moored, and the real fun began. The crew unloaded a jet ski, and there was a slide and stairs for swimming. My children couldn’t wait to dive into the crystal-clear waters, and I joined them for a swim, feeling the stress of everyday life melt away.
Lunch was served on board, and it was a delightful spread of pasta with either a vegetable or tuna sauce, accompanied by a giant Spanish salad and plenty of bread. The kids loved the novelty of eating on a boat, and I was grateful for the inclusive drinks, which added to the relaxed atmosphere. While some guests opted for a jet ski ride, others, like us, chose to snorkel and feed the fish that gathered under the boat. It was a magical experience that the kids are still talking about.
Sailing Back with Memories
After a couple of hours at Papagayo, it was time to head back to the harbor. The leisurely sail back was filled with laughter and shared stories of the day’s adventures. The crew, especially Carl, kept everyone entertained with their humor and knowledge of the local area. It was clear that they loved what they do, and their enthusiasm was infectious.
As we disembarked, we were offered a souvenir photo, a lovely memento of our day at sea. At just €5.00, it was a bargain compared to other excursions we’ve been on. The kids proudly displayed it in their room, a reminder of our unforgettable family adventure.
The Best Boat Trip Lanzarote was a perfect blend of relaxation, fun, and education, making it an ideal choice for families looking to create lasting memories. I can’t wait to return and experience it all over again.
