From Stump City to Rose City: Our Downtown Journey in Portland - Angela our tour guide took us on a tour of downtown Portland. She was highly enthusiastic and well informed. We were a family of 7, 3 adults and 4 teens who she kept together through her measured pace and enthusiastic rendering of facts on the history and sights around downtown Portland, creating a genuine craving to revisit to immerse ourselves more deeply into some of the locations we covered - to name just a few - Powell’s book shop, the numerous food carts, the poet’s beach, the cable cars, Tillikum bridge, the avenue of Murals, the numerous bridges that apart from being improvements architecturally, were also made progressively more aesthetic over time, the memorials acknowledging the racial transgressions after WWII. The trip and her commentary covered architecture, culture, food spots and important insights on how Portland came to be what it is today. There were many interesting aspects such as the massive ‘Attitude of Gratitude’ mural amongst the many murals dotting the city, that we not only enjoyed looking at, but also learning that the hair-do of the mural comprises a 1000 plant wall garden. We discovered how the city got its moniker as the City of roses, overturning its previous reputation as the Stump City (coming from the many stumps left behind after developers left behind stumps of trees felled)

Great way to experience Portland - What a great way to experience Portland. Such a bike-able city!! Loved Kelly and the information she shared. Had my granddaughters with us, she was incredibly patient with the one who was a little scared of the tour--and by the end of our time together both girls were chatting with her nonstop.

Fun & Untouristy Portland Bike Tour of Street Art, Bridges and Neighborhoods - Wonderful 3 hour bike Tour of parts of Portland that are not the predictable tourist spots. Our enthusiastic tour guide Kelly showed us the beautiful murals of Eastside Central, Burnside Skate Park, some scenic viewpoints near the bridges and then a wonderful local neighborhood at the end. It was nice that only a small part of the tour was downtown-adjacent. There was detailed information about some of the historic murals and Kelly was incredibly friendly and knowledgeable. There is also a stop for food and restrooms on a scenic cafe spot on the tour.

Lovely, unexpected surprises on the way! - What a lovely time we had during this tour. We live just outside Portland, but decided doing the tour because otherwise we would not know where to go biking around. It was perfect, and it took us to beautiful, and unexpected places! Colors, scents, flavors, history, laughter…

Bike Around Portland 3 hour tour - I took the three hour Art, Culture, Bridges, and Poetry tour with Bike Around Portland. It was great! Sarah was an engaging tour guide, full of facts and history about Portland. We stopped regularly to learn all about Portland, and even stopped for some fabulous ice cream. My bike was very comfortable and the pace was just right. If you are new to Portland and want to see different parts of the city, take this tour!!

Neighborhood Vibes in Portland - Easy bike ride on mostly-flat streets with frequent stops at points throughout the city. Our guide Edwin shared the back story of the neighborhoods we crossed, including his recommendations of restaurants, breweries, disto, music venues, etc. Portland is not a “monuments and statues” city, so the tour was really a way to get a feel for the neighborhoods. Of course the stop at the iconic Voodoo Donuts was a delicious treat!

Great Tour of Portland - This was my first visit to Portland, and I had so much fun riding a bike around town and learning about the city from Sara. We started with Ladd's Addition neighborhood smelling roses in the community rose garden, saw a variety of art work, read many poems while learning a bit of history behind them along the railroad and at Poet's Beach, and enjoyed a delicious buttermilk old fashion doughnut at Blue Star. I really liked going over the Tilikum Crossing and stopping to watch boats and kayaks going by. The weather was perfect for the bike tour. There were many things going on around the Waterfront Park, and I was able to experience a little bit of what locals enjoy on the weekend. I think riding a bike around the town is one of the best ways to see a city! I highly recommend this tour. Thank you Sara for a fun and interesting tour!!
