- Columbia River Gorge National Scenic Area - After meeting at the starting point, 833 SE Main Street #124, the journey begins in one of our comfortable vans. The tour takes place in the Columbia River Gorge, specifically in the waterfall-rich western end of an 80-mile (130-km) canyon. We will drive approximately 35 minutes from our shop into the Gorge to commence the tour.
- Multnomah Falls - Multnomah Falls is the tallest waterfall in the state and one of the most stunning and photographed waterfalls in the U.S. For those in pursuit of waterfalls, this is the one many aim to see. Our visit here will include time to walk up to the iconic Benson Bridge and explore the gift shop; however, the hike to the top of the waterfall is long and steep, and will not be part of this tour.
- Bridal Veil - We will pass through the town of Bridal Veil, once dominated by a lumber operation in the Columbia Gorge, now home to a small post office and a nunnery, among other attractions! We will make at least one stop in the Bridal Veil area.
- Bridal Veil Falls State Park - This hidden waterfall is one of the state’s most visited and romantic spots. A 2/3 mile, 1km hike leads us to this beautiful location, which we believe is a true fairyland.
Due to weather, traffic conditions, or road closures, this waterfall may sometimes be replaced with an alternative!
Through May 2026, several construction projects on the highway may alter our itinerary. We will always visit at least three waterfalls and a viewpoint; sample waterfalls are included in the itinerary!
- Latourell Falls - Latourell is the most impressive of the plunge-style waterfalls, cascading over layers of 15 million-year-old columnar and entablature basalt adorned with lichens. According to local legend, it carries the spirit of a Beaver princess who led a tragic life. At Latourell, there is an opportunity for a longer hike, up to 2 miles or 3 km. Take a deep breath and experience the rich diversity of the forest with all its healing power and spiritual truths.

Horsetail Falls- Columbia River Gorge - If time and highway construction permits
Horsetail Falls is a summer favorite for its inviting waters to dip your toes in; it is also spectacular in winter with its impressive spray and thunderous sound that takes your breath away! Whenever possible, we will visit this beauty. One of our alternate waterfalls is Wahkeena Falls, offering a different kind of magic but equally breathtaking!
Through May 2026, several construction projects on the highway may alter our itinerary. We will always visit at least three waterfalls and a viewpoint; sample waterfalls are included in the itinerary!
- Vista House - Vista House is currently open limited hours and highway construction is preventing easy access through September 2025. If it is closed and schedule permits, we will stop to take photos of this architectural icon and enjoy the view.
At Oregon’s most beautiful rest stop, we’ll pause, take a walk to the upper deck (weather permitting), learn about the architectural history, and appreciate what might be the most expensive public bathroom in the Pacific Northwest. We’ll also honor the Wasco people, who considered this a sacred place.
Through May 2026, several construction projects on the highway may alter our itinerary. We will always visit at least three waterfalls and a viewpoint; sample viewpoints are included in the itinerary!
- Troutdale - We will pass through the town of Troutdale on our return to the city. Our 35-minute drive back to Portland includes exiting the mouth of the Columbia Gorge and passing through the charming suburb of Troutdale.

The Columbia River Gorge, with its 80 miles of steep, rocky cliffs, presents some of the world’s most breathtaking scenery: thundering waterfalls, soaring eagles, ancient trees, lush ferns, vibrant flowers, and timeless rocks. This half-day adventure of exploration and reflection, featuring brief hikes and visits to overlooks and vistas, will leave you in awe.
Participants will explore waterfalls and overlooks, carefully chosen by our guides to showcase both the most renowned sites, such as the must-see Latourell Falls—a magnificent plunge-style waterfall that stands as one of Oregon’s most iconic—and some hidden gems. Depending on the weather, this may include a few small, secluded waterfalls and another impressive plunge-style waterfall with columnar basalt. Our tours proceed rain or shine!
In addition to sharing stories about the geology, botany, and the well-known tales of pioneers and road-builders, we will also recount ancient legends of gods, animal spirits, and the tragic tale of the Beaver princess transformed into a waterfall.
