Magical craftsmanship - It was an unforgettable and profound experience, thanks to our guide Antonio and driver Martin. My friend and I were truly amazed by the tremendous beauty and creativity of the artisans and by the way their designs reflected the Zapotec culture and worldview. Antonio and the artisans gave us explanations of everything, culture and art and history. We are deeply grateful for this tour.

We need to know and value our crafts and pay just enough for them. - Very interesting was to know up close the process and elaboration of different crafts such as the alebrijes, textiles, black mud, it is necessary to see and understand the work that costs to do each of these to quilt the value of them. Because despite the effort of people, our artisans and peoples still live in not very suitable conditions. The staff both guide and driver very professional and gentle. The vehicle in very good condition and clean. Walk very suitable to do with friends or family.

Very interesting - Informative and nice way to learn more about the local artists and the culture. Even a short visit in a local town included. Not pushy to make any purchases.

My friend and I really... - My friend and I really enjoyed this tour, the guide and driver were great. We liked learning the history and traditions of the communities near Oaxaca, as well as being able to shop locally and authentically for quality products. We took the English tour and were able to understand everything perfectly; there was only one stop on the tour that we needed to use some Spanish for, but the guide could have helped if needed. Also some but not all of the stops required cash, just as a FYI to other travelers, and I suggest bringing some snacks and waters for the van as these were not included. Overall a good experience that I would recommend to others!

What to do - The guide was attentive and very interesting. We learned a lot about local crafts. Too bad to have visited only one workshop in the village of albrijes (very nice work but very expensive)

Just ok, wouldn’t do it again - Underwhelming. You do see a variety of crafts, but I was expediting to see pottery being made and visit an actual textile /rug place. Those were more just galleries and shopping with a small display for tourists. Plus, if you don’t speak spanish, you won’t learn nearly as much. The guide does some translating, but you miss a lot. The spanish version would take 7 minutes, then the English version 1-2 minutes 🤔 The best part was the painted figurines. You went to the actual location where they are made, explained in English, see how they are made. Very cool.

Disappointing - We were very disappointed as we had taken this same excursion a couple years ago. We had very little time at the alebrijes carving. We did not see them carve the animals and explain the meaning of the paints or explain what the different animals in one statue means. Most time was spent trying to sell us produce. From there we went to see embroidery which is another selling job. From there to the market which the guide spent 15 minutes warning us about theft and crime in the area. Didn't even go in, mostly food products. The last stop at the black pottery was good. Last time we saw the girls actually carving the pots. This time we saw a man making the pot. All in all, very disappointed.
