Highlights
  • Konigsplatz - In 1919, Germany was emerging from World War I as a defeated
and humiliated nation with Munich in the grips of hyperinflation
and Bavaria dominated by revolution and assassination. Out of this
fertile soil of chaos rose the Nazi movement and one of history’s
most powerful dictators, Adolf Hitler. Join us to explore the dark side
of Munich’s history as the birth place of Nazism. Follow the growth
of the movement from its first mass meeting at the Hofbräuhaus,
to its failed attempt to seize power at the Feldherrnhalle. We take
you to the site of mass party rallies at Königsplatz and stop in the
Hofgarten to talk about The White Rose resistance movement.
The tour covers all important facts and sites that played a role in

Great informative tour! - Josh was an excellent guide (informed & passionate) and obviously driven to share the stories of the Nazi regime, both the complacency & resistance of the German people, the role of the liberators, and Germany’s path from denial to actively facing their history. He really poured himself into the tour and it made for a very compelling experience. I would definitely recommend the tour! Two notes that might be helpful to others: (1) the tour had an optional extension - we selected that and the total time was 3 hrs 45 min; (2) Josh brought an appropriate solemnity to some aspects of the tour and politely asked people to move away from the group if they were on their phones. Therefore, if you want to be on your phone throughout the tour, this is not a good fit.

Unfortunately disappointing - The tour guide spent most of the time telling off people on the tour and after an hour we had learned little about the historical facts. Most of the sights we looked at were in a printed A3 book that the guide had rather than walking and seeing the signification locations.

Few sites, too much generalization. - While I appreciate that this is a sensitive topic and requires a lot of context, but this tour held little of Munich's history. I could have taken this tour anywhere. We walked to few sites. When we did stop, we were lectured rather than informed. There was so much talk of Normandy, the liberation, and very little about Munich itself. The guide spent a lot of time chastising people. I think because the group was just too large. My daughter and I left the tour 2 hours in. It was not a good tour.
