• Plaza Zabala - Dedicated to the city’s founder, Zabala’s square is a lovely green space in front of the ‘Taranco Palace’ (museum of decorative arts). We’ll delve into Montevideo’s origins and its enduring colonial legacy.
• Plaza Matriz - Once the hub of daily life in the 1800s, this square features a distinct Spanish style. We’ll visit the San Felipe y Santiago Cathedral, the Cabildo museum (formerly the administrative and judicial center), and enjoy a crafts fair known for its antiques and traditional Uruguayan items.
• Plaza Independencia - The most significant square in Uruguay’s capital, marking the boundary between the historic district and downtown.
