- Grant Burge Cellar Door - Founded by a fifth-generation Barossa vigneron and winemaker, Grant Burge Wines is a respected and innovative force in the Australian wine industry.
The Burge family’s winemaking legacy dates back to March 1855, when tailor John Burge immigrated to the Barossa from Hillcot, near Pewsey in Wiltshire, England, with his wife Eliza and their two sons. John worked at Hillside Vineyards, passing his passion for viticulture to his son Meshach, who crafted his first wine in 1865 and became a community leader. Meshach married Emma in 1883, and they had eight children. Their first-born, Percival, established Wilsford Winery near Lyndoch in 1928. Percival’s sons, Noel and Colin, continued the tradition, with Colin and his wife Nancy having a son, Grant, who followed in the family’s winemaking footsteps.
