Highlights
  • Los Cristianos Harbour - PASSPORTS IMPORTANT !!! We depart from your hotel at approximately 07:00 AM to the port of Los Cristianos. There the ferry of the company “Fred Olsen” will be waiting for us to take us to San Sebastián de La Gomera, the capital of the island.

  • Roque de Agando - Once in La Gomera, we will take the southern route and make a brief stop next to the Roque de Agando, a curious rock formation typical of the island. Its origin is the magma of the volcanoes that shaped the island and which, over time, has been eroded to what we can see today. It is a unique witness to what happened on La Gomera millions of years ago and offers spectacular views, especially from the base of the Roque.

  • Parque Nacional de Garajonay - We will continue to the heart of the Garajonay National Park, which contains one of the most important laurel forests in the Canary Islands and, therefore, in the world. It was declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 1986. We will take a leisurely stroll through the forests of the National Park, witnessing the contrast between the lush evergreen forest and the surrounding arid landscapes of the island. An authentic relic of the past that preserves part of the flora that inhabited the Mediterranean lands during the Cenozoic Era (formerly known as the Tertiary Era) and that disappeared from continental Europe due to climatic changes that hardly affected the islands due to their remote geographical location. A unique experience where you will feel a powerful connection with the majesty and tranquillity of wild nature.

  • Las Rosas - We will continue our route through Agulo, a beautiful northern municipality open to the Atlantic Ocean, with the peak of El Teide always present in its landscape. This is the smallest municipality on the island of La Gomera, nestled at the foot of a great basalt wall and forming a beautiful green “balcony” overlooking the sea. This village is considered to be “El bombón de La Gomera” (The sweet of La Gomera) thanks to its undeniable attractiveness and its well-kept appearance. Agulo is full of pleasant cobbled streets and beautiful tiled houses with vegetable gardens around them.

  • San Sebastian de la Gomera - We will return to the island’s capital, San Sebastian, a city full of culture and tradition. Its old town has more than five hundred years of history. The traces of Christopher Columbus’ discovery of the “New World” and the conquest of the island by the kingdom of Castile make San Sebastian a unique and special place in the Canary Islands and in the history of civilisation.

  • Torre Del Conde - In San Sebastian, as traces of its history, the Torre del Conde, a fortress of medieval origin and the oldest preserved construction on the islands, stands out.

  • Church of the Assumption - The church of Nuestra Señora de la Asunción, where we can delight in the result of the mixture of Gothic and Canarian styles, a true museum of sacred art; the hermitage of San Sebastián, built around 1530 or the so-called Casa de la Aguada, with its well, from which legend has it that Christopher Columbus took the water with which the new continent was baptised. San Sebastián de La Gomera keeps the island’s patron saint, the Virgin of Guadalupe, in her hermitage in Puntallana. Every five years she goes out in procession to all the municipalities of La Gomera, attracting thousands of faithful and curious people to her festivities. San Sebastián is an exceptional place with very good examples of its past. It is dotted with beautiful buildings of traditional Canarian architecture, with architectural examples that reveal the great religious, social, political and military activity that has been the main feature of this settlement for more than five centuries.

Great tour, we really enjoyed the day! - Thanks to Haranta (I hope I spelled it right) for the great day. We were picked up by bus from the hotel and dropped off again after the tour. Both on the ferry and during the stops we were able to move detached from the group as we were always told when to meet where. We found that very pleasant! Those who liked could stay with Haranta and she told more details about the area or historical events. The bus was air-conditioned, although not particularly strong, but it was good to endure. The driver drove the serpentines appropriately and relaxed. During the trip Haranta told a lot about the island and places worth seeing that we passed. English and Spanish were spoken, but we were also asked if we wanted to listen to the tour in German. We denied that English was great to understand. At the beginning of the tour we were asked if we wanted to eat fish, meat or vegetarian. Included were water, bread and mojos (and a gomeric red wine to taste). It was served soup, a main course and also dessert. Here Lunch was typical Canarian and very delicious. Later we could have coffee and taste gofio cookies. Thanks for the great organization, the delicious food and the successful trip!

Worth it! - This trip went smooth like butter. First and foremost, if you have a hotel pick-up please make sure to confirm ahead of time. Dress appropriately for waking in the woods, bring water/snacks, and sunblock. With that being said, our trip to La Gomera was long, informative, and amazing! We were picked up at exactly 7:55 a.m. from our hotel. There was a transfer before we made it to the ferry. Our guide was Enrique. He was hilarious. I don’t know how he has the energy to run this tour. It takes about 1 hour on the ferry to arrive to the island. Once there we met our driver Francisco. He was very skilled at navigating those sharp turns with such a large bus. I recommend if you get car sick to bring appropriate meds with you. We stoped at several vistas to see El Tiede, San Sebastián, defunct volcanoes, and the cloud forest. At the forest, we had a quick respite for drinks and bathrooms and then went on a very short hike in the woods. We learned about the ancient laurel forest and how it filters the clouds to make everything wet. Such a huge contrast to the drier parts of the island. After the forest, a few short vista stops and then off to lunch. The food is typical of a tourist menu. Soup w/Gofio, bread, choice of fish, beef, or vegetarian, and dessert of a cheese flan. Salt, pepper, and local sauces to add flavor. Plenty of fresh water and wine. Then we could see a whistle language (Silbo) demonstration, coffee and bathroom break and then back on the bus for more vistas. Finally, we landed in San Sebastián where there was just enough time for souvenir shopping before a quick 12 minute walk back to the ferry. I would have loved to stop to see the local agriculture Bananas and Aloe Vera. There just wasn’t enough time. Smooth transfer back to the hotel. It was a 10 hour day but well worth it.

La Gorema well worth a visit - A full day, picked up near our hotel, transfered to the ferry & collected the other side. The road trip around La Gorema was spectacular, the coach climbed high up into the mountains on roads that saw us drive along cliff edges!!! But the views were stunning as a result 😍. Plenty of stops to get photos, eat & collect information. Lunch was at a restaurant which obviously catered for large numbers with the food being traditional local cuisine & good wine 🍷. Could of done with more time is the capital of the island when we arrived back there to catch the ferry, for us we would of been happy to miss the stop off at the centre of the national park woodland though it was very different from the rest of the island, the drive through would have been enough. Ferry trips there and back were great, very comfortable & easy accessible for our group of 4 who are all able bodied to a degree except the age related issues of some 60+. The trip is a full day and was 12hrs for us pick up to drop off from Playa la Arena

Not worth it for a day. - We don't think there's much point. A lot of time for not much to see. Perhaps it takes longer to see the details?
