A Journey to the Stars

As a travel writer and a mother of three, I am always on the lookout for experiences that can captivate both adults and children alike. When I heard about the Teide National Park Sunset & Stargazing experience, I knew it was something I had to try. The idea of combining a sunset view with stargazing in one of the clearest skies on Earth was too tempting to resist.

As we arrived at Montaña Sámara, the anticipation was palpable. Standing 2,000 meters above sea level, we were treated to a breathtaking view of the sun setting over the Atlantic Ocean. The sky transformed into a canvas of vibrant colors, and the distant silhouette of Mount Teide added to the magic of the moment. We raised a glass of cava, or orange juice for the little ones, to toast this unforgettable experience.

The kids were mesmerized by the sight, and I couldn’t help but feel a sense of gratitude for being able to share such a moment with them. It was a reminder of the beauty that exists in the world and the importance of taking the time to appreciate it. The sunset was just the beginning of our celestial journey, and we were eager to see what the night sky had in store for us.

Dining and Stargazing Delight

Our next stop was Restaurante 7 Cañadas, where we enjoyed a delicious Canarian meal. The menu offered something for everyone, with options like chicken in salmorejo sauce and vegetarian burgers. The kids loved the Canarian potatoes, and the dessert of the day was a hit with everyone.

As twilight deepened, we stepped outside for the stargazing portion of the evening. The guides, equipped with high-powered telescopes and lasers, led us on an exploration of the night sky. Their enthusiasm was infectious, and their knowledge of constellations, mythology, and cosmic wonders was truly impressive.

The highlight for the kids was seeing Saturn and its rings through the telescope. Their eyes widened with wonder, and I knew this was a memory that would stay with them for a lifetime. The guides answered all our questions with patience and warmth, making the experience both educational and enjoyable.

As we made our way back to the hotel, I reflected on the evening and the joy it brought to my family.
