Highlights
  • Templo Expiatorio del Santisimo Sacramento - This majestic neo-gothic Catholic church will allow us to discover the history of the city’s religious conflicts, which are intrinsically linked to the cultural and economic influence of the US in Mexico. I will explain everything in detail as part of the tour.
  • Guadalajara Cathedral - This spectacular 16th-century renaissance Cathedral is the most emblematic religious site of Western Mexico. I will tell you its most interesting secrets!

We will also visit the four surrounding marvellous plazas where you will be impressed by the beauty of the novo-hispanic, baroque, art nouveau, and neoclassical architecture.

  • Teatro Degollado - We will visit the 19th-century neoclassical Degollado Teather and its sorrounding plazas and churches. The visit to the theather’s interior depends on the COVID-19 restrictions.
  • Mercado Libertad - This is the biggest indoor market in Latin America and the ultimate food and shopping paradise. Here you’ll get to admire the vast diversity of souvenirs, handicrafts and products while interacting with the local vendors.
  • Instituto Cultural Cabanas - This UNESCO Heritage Site (closed on Mondays) is home to the astonishing murals of Clemente Orozco, one of Mexico’s three greatest muralists alongside Diego Rivera and David Siqueiros (I will not go inside the museum with you since they have their own UNESCO-certified guides). The spectacular 19th-century neoclassical building was used as an orphanage until 1980 and is now one of the most prestigious cultural centers in Latin America.

Beautiful Guadalajara Guadalajaraaaa! - Diego was so knowledgeable and chill, he really made the tour very enjoyable for our group (we were pretty tired from a long night of partying the night before), and he kept a nice, easy pace while still making sure we visited all the important attractions. We all agreed that the sacrifice of waking up early was well worth it, and we give Diego the credit for making the tour appealing and fun. We loved learning about the history of Guadalajara, walking through the various neighborhoods and admiring the architecture representing a vast scope of styles throughout the centuries. It was truly a beautiful experience that inspired us to want to return to the city again in the future. Thank you, Diego!

Amazing tour!! Highly recommend it!! - Diegoo our tour guide took us onto a detailed immersion in the colonial history of the city, from Colonia Americana the newest part to the most ancient part of the city from early 1500’s. Amazing tour with detailed explanations and immersion into daily life at typical markets. A must do in Guadalajara!!

A Great Way to Get to Know Guadalajara - The tour with Diego was excellent! He communicated with us prior to the trip to make sure we understood what we signed up for. The tour truly was like a walk through time. Diego’s passion for the city truly comes through as he talks about not only architecture, but social and cultural topics as well. When we return to Guadalajara, it would be our pleasure to take another tour with Diego. Additionally, for LGBT travelers considering tours, booking a private tour can be concerning simply because you never know how you’ll be treated. Diego made us feel completely comfortable and at ease from the beginning. I would have no hesitation in recommending him!

A not to be missed tour of Guadalajara - Diego was awesome and extremely knowledgeable about the historic sites we visited. He was extremely accommodating and at no time, did we feel pressured to move at a faster pace. During the time we were there. an issue with international cell service caused us to be "disconnected" outside of hotel WiFi. He helped us find a place to remedy the issue, so we had cell service during the rest of our stay. Diego is also excellent in keeping in touch with you. We chose to do this tour as a couple and that was one of the best decisions we have made compared to other tours elsewhere we have taken in the past. It is well worth the extra charge. His tour was the most memorable time of our stay in Guadalajara. We would highly suggest this tour and do it EARLY in your stay. He has great recommendations for places to see and eat. That way, you can take advantage of those to plan the rest of your stay. Had we more time, we would not have hesitated to take another of his tours to Chapala or a tequila experience. You will not be disappointed with the tour! Very highly recommended!

The best and most informative private guided walking tour in Guadalajara - I had read great reviews about Diego and we were not disappointed. He was already waiting for us when we arrived at the allocated meeting spot on time and off we went. Friendly, knowledgeable, he adapted his narrative to our interests as well as being interested in us and why we were in Guadalajara. From history to architecture to food to politics, Diego shared his knowledge with us. We enjoyed a delicious lunch at the market food hall (Tortas ahondagas - the local specialty) and then Diego bid us farewell! It was the best 4hrs walking tour we have ever taken. If you go to Guadalajara, don't miss it!

Awesome day in Guadalajara with Diego - I was so much more than impressed with Diego and his tour. He is a skilled orator and a wealth of knowledge. Some people have great knowledge, but lack the ability to share it with others. Diego is one of the rare people who is both brilliant and a regular person when he speaks. We took a private tour because I am the kind of person who asks a lot of questions so I can fully understand the fine points that can be glossed over by lesser guides. Diego answered every question and even picked up not he fact that I would be asking them and began going much more in depth from the start of an areas description. I cannot recommend Diego highly enough.
