Oldbridge Estate/Battle of the Boyne Visitors Centre - The Battle of the Boyne in 1690 was a pivotal battle not only for the ruling class in Ireland but also in Britain and Europe. It sheds light on the Northern Ireland conflicts and is commemorated annually on July 12th by the Loyalist community. This battle led to the displacement of Irish Celts and their culture across Ireland. It was also a contest for the English throne between the Catholic King James II and the Protestant King of Holland, William of Orange. Visitors can opt for a self-guided tour, with entry fees applicable.

Monasterboice Monastic Site - Mainistir Bhuithe, or the “monastery of Buithe,” is a 5th-century monastic site established by St. Buithe. The site features the remnants of two 14th-century churches and a 10th-century Round Tower, renowned for its Celtic High Crosses. The round tower, approximately 28 meters tall, is well-preserved and was likely constructed shortly after 968, suffering damage in a fire in 1098. The three high crosses, dating from the 10th century, depict biblical scenes and are part of the scriptural group. The 5.5-meter Muiredach’s High Cross is considered the finest high cross in Ireland, showcasing carvings from both the Old and New Testaments. It is named after an abbot, Muiredach mac Domhnaill, who passed away in 923.
