LOVED ITT - Francisco and Hasan was our MEN! Francisco was knowledgeable of the Mayan temples and of Balacar. We saw everything and made it to our boat on time. We will make sure to tell our families and friends.

Amazing! - This was truly an amazing excursion! Once exiting your cruise ship, you need to keep walking off the port, past the parking lot of buses and then down the sidewalks as if you are going into town. Eventually you will run into the tour guides with a shirt labeled Chok Ek Costa Maya. They had a whiteboard with our names on it. We boarded a very clean and comfortable van with 6 other people. Our guides name was Leo and he was wonderful. Our first stop was the Mayan ruins. We arrived early before any of the other groups arrived and were able to get some really nice photos. Leo was very knowledgable on the history of the Mayan Ruins and gave great info. Then we loaded back into the van and were provided snacks and drinks! We then headed to Bacalar Lagoon. We boarded a pontoon boat and sailed out on the lagoon where we were taken to a few different Cenotes and were given info about how they were formed and some history. Then we stopped and got to swim for about an hour. The water was absolutely beautiful. We were provided with beer, tequila, soda, water, snacks and fresh pineapple that was bought at a seller stand on the side of the road. After leaving bacalar, we were taken to a very clean restaurant where we had a fabulous lunch of tacos, fajitas, or quesadillas. Leo and his driver had us back at the port an hour before the cruise ship left so we still had time to check out the shops. Overall this was a phenomenal excursion. The description doesn’t do it justice. Highly recommend and this would be great for teens and younger kids as well.

Amazing Costa Maya excursion! - My husband and I took our youngest kids ages 13 & 15 on this tour. It was very well organized and we were on a brand new bus that was very comfortable. Our guide Carol was amazing and shared so much info with us throughout the tour. We stopped and got fresh pineapple on the way to the Mayan ruins. We spent a perfect amount of time touring the ruins and got some great pictures. Then on to the lake! Carol had snacks and beer and soda/water available on the bus ride for us. Our group was split into two different pontoons and we each had a boat driver & guide that spoke English (we had Carol!) and was knowledgeable of the area. We stopped to swim in a few different spots and had the best pineapple and tequila samples. Bacalar Lake was so beautiful it was surreal. After the lake we headed to a local taco restaurant that had excellent food & drinks ready for us and clean bathrooms. Then back to the ship and had just enough time to wander in the port area a bit. A perfect day! No soliciting or sales pitches from anyone on this tour-it was wonderful!!

100% recommended - This was a fantastic tour. Our guide (Carol) was outstanding, so knowledgeable and nothing was too much trouble. Don't hesitate to book this tour. The cenote is breathtaking, truly stunning. The water is crystal clear and you get to swim in the lagoon. Our guide brought a local pineapple to eat in the lagoon and we had tequila shots, it was really good fun. The Mayan Ruins were so interesting too. This was a real highlight of the many excursions we had booked during our cruise, it will not disappoint! Thank you so much Chac Ek (especially Carol) for the fab day with with you, we felt very looked after. Easily a 10 out of 10.

Wonderful day on the lake and seeing the Mayan ruins. - The boat trip on the water was really fun and we had a chance to swim. Afterwards had a delicious lunch. Really enjoyed the walk through the ruins at Chacchoben. Our guide was casual but informative.

This was a great... - This was a great excursion! You walk about 10 minutes outside the cruise port to the pick up spot, and then it’s about an hour drive to the first stop, which is the Mayan ruins. Once at the ruins, you walk around and explore and have time to take pics. We saw monkeys in the tree! Next up is a drive to Baccalar. It’s stunning!! The water is beautiful and you have about an hour to swim and float. They also served us the world’s best fruit with Tajim- omg it was SO GOOD! pineapple and mango, I need to go back just for more. Then you finish off with lunch- it was ok. And then about an hour drive back. It’s long but the van was comfortable and the tour guides were very friendly. I def recommend!

Book this tour!!! My family of 5, including picky teens, LOVED it!!! - This was a very well organized, well run tour! Would highly recommend to anyone! My one complaint had nothing to do with the company that runs the tour, but with the “directions” to get out of the port and get to the Taxi area to meet them. we had a short port day and we’re trying to hurry to get to the van for this tour. Everyone we asked in the cruise port for directions to the taxis told us we had to keep on walking all the way around the building buildings. This was just a way to get us to walk through the long “gauntlet” of people trying to sell things and shops trying to get us to go inside. Their directions literally took us 15 minutes out of our way and wrapped us all the way around in a circle basically. We were the last ones to find the van and held up the tour on and already rushed experience, which was disappointing. For a more direct route to the meeting area, stay to the right after getting off of the long pier from the cruise ship. Follow signs for tours, and it appeared there was a way to get into the parking lot where the vans and buses were to the right of all of the buildings, back behind where the tour groups were gathering. Then you can walk across that parking lot towards the back right corner, where there is a street to take you to where the taxis are, which was our meeting point. If you don’t see this exit as an option, just try to cut through any store that looks like it has a back exit to get behind that first row of buildings and go right as soon as you can. Follow the evacuation route. Now back to the tour! Our guide was very knowledgeable, they picked us up in a nice van that was fully air-conditioned and had snacks and a cooler with water and beers for us. We were a bit rushed at the Mayan ruins, but that’s because of our ships early departure schedule. They assured us they would have us back in plenty of time to board the ship and they did! The lagoon was by far the highlight for us and our children! We absolutely loved it and wish we could’ve stayed longer! The freshly cut up watermelon and mango was delicious and served on a floating raft. The water was the prettiest I have ever seen and felt great on Thanksgiving! The restaurant where we ate lunch was fantastic. The guides were very thoughtful and took all of our orders ahead of time so the food would be ready when we got there. They were all very friendly and fun and we could not recommend this tour more! Do not hesitate to book it!

Well organized, the essentials are seen, no crowds. - Bacalar is a bit far from the cruise terminal but the lagoon is worth it. The team is professional, the excursion is complete, in small group, the time is well managed.

We had a private tour... - We had a private tour (just the two of us) with Raphael. He was great. Very knowledgable, spoke good English, friendly, and was able to answer all of our questions. Armando was our boat captain and he was very friendly even though he spoke little English and was a good driver. We were able to swim in the colorful lagoon. Lunch was good at a local restaurant. Thoroughly enjoyed our tour and would highly recommend Raphael.

Nightmare in Costa Maya - I booked an excursion on Viator with Tours Naturaleza Bacalar in Costa Maya, Mexico, to see the Chacchoben Ruins, Bacalar Lagoon with pontoon boat ride, and lunch on November 28, 2025. Selena from Tours Naturaleza Bacalar greeted us then left my daughter and I at the pick up location for an hour. By the time she returned it was too late for our excursion. Another company, Costa Maya Experiences, took pity on us and let us ride with them. Their van was already full so Octavio, the guide from CME, even gave up his seat for my daughter and I to share and he sat on a cooler for the entire excursion just so we would not be left behind. However, we still did not receive all that we paid for. We did not get to to to the Bacalar Lagoon, have a pontoon boat ride, or lunch that we paid for. I called Viator that day from the port and called again when I got home. They refused to refund my money even though we never got to go on the excursion and the company they used did absolutely nothing except abandon us in Costa Maya. I am continuing to fight for a refund from the excursion that never happened and compensate CME. I do not trust this company and if they do not reimburse for the nonexistent excursion, I will Never use them again!
