Expectations surpassed: The guides do their best to ensure you get a well tailored experience - The locations visited are definitely unique and worth seeing. Assuming you can win the lottery that is the NZ weather, the countryside on the way through Bombay hills is very scenic, especially as the sun begins to break the morning mist. Moderate fitness is highly recommended, as there is a fair bit of hiking immediately before and after cathedral cove; some flights of stairs from the beach are quite steep. That said, there is an additional ferry every thirty minutes from cathedral cove for those who do not want to hike up the stairs. Building a mini fort in the hot water beach was fun too; since the tide eventually picks up and brings in cold water, depending on where you are situated you'll have to set up some decent walls (the guide will do it but you can help too). Highly recommend the visit in NZs winter months as there are much fewer people around and the hot water veins only go so far. Swimwear recommended, but if you don't feel too strongly about lying down in the pool, or jumping into the oncoming cold tide, you can get away with a pair of shorts. We were fortunate enough to have two guides for our trip, which opened up more options for exploring. Aled and Mark were both very friendly, and knowledgeable of the area, including history and geography and were pretty flexible with the time, and accommodated us spectacularly. We had the option after to hear more of the history, or to get some quiet time for a nap. Probably can guess which one we went with. They also gave us recommendations of what to explore in the north island. Complimentary quick snacks and water were provided to supplement the hiking. There will typically be time for a stop at a decent cafe for breakfast, a hub eatery for lunch, and a rest stop for ice cream on the way back to Auckland. A few bonus optional locations/hikes (free of charge) dependent on time and weather, your energy, and possibly quantity of guides.

Beautiful bakade - Nice ride. Alec our guide was very involved and did everything possible to make the day unforgettable despite sullen weather. I highly recommend this company which has been perfect in every respect: punctuality, efficiency, commitment and great desire to satisfy the customer.

Absolutely Unforgettable – Exceeded Every Expectation! - This tour was, hands down, one of the highlights of our entire New Zealand trip! From start to finish, everything was perfectly planned and executed. The quality of the experience was just phenomenal – every stop was breathtaking, especially Cathedral Cove, which looks like something out of a movie. The scenery alone would have made it worth it, but it was the guide, Aled, who truly made this experience next-level. Our tour guide (Aled) was exceptional – knowledgeable, passionate, and so engaging. You could tell they truly loved what they did, and his enthusiasm was contagious. He gave us fascinating insights about the region, geology, and history, all while making sure we felt comfortable, safe, and well taken care of. This tour is a steal. It’s rare to find something that delivers so much – not just in terms of sites, but the quality of the experience, the guide’s expertise, and the overall atmosphere. It was worth every cent and more. We also lucked out with the time of year – the weather was perfect, and it wasn’t crowded at all, which made it feel even more magical. I can’t recommend this tour enough. It blew away every expectation we had and gave us memories we’ll never forget. If you’re considering it – book it! You won’t regret it.

What a beautiful day! - Aled is awesome! He has this beautiful energy and turns into the happy friend who is traveling with us and the one who planned the trip and knows everything, instead of a simple tour guide who only gives information... This is well appreciated especially for people like me who are traveling solo! It was super fun to see all of us enjoying our day! The places we went to, the food, the time between each activity, the weather were perfect and there were few people besides us. WONDERFUL! We almost had the beaches to ourselves! Thank you for an amazing day!
