The Trümmelbach drains the massive glacier walls of the Eiger, Mönch, and Jungfrau, transporting up to 20,000 liters per second and 20,000 tonnes of debris annually from its catchment area (24 km2), half of which is covered in snow and ice. These are the only glacier waterfalls in Europe located inside the mountain and still accessible.

The Trümmelbach is listed in the “Federal Inventory of Landscapes and Natural Monuments of National Importance” and is part of the Swiss Alps Jungfrau-Aletsch UNESCO World Heritage Site.

In spring, weather conditions may lead to temporary closures. For safety reasons, babies and small children under the age of 4, as well as dogs, are not permitted access to the Trümmelbach Falls.

The Trümmelbach Waterfalls are open daily from early April to early November.

  The city’s main avenue begins near the main railway station (Höheweg) and extends to the city’s central park, the Höhematte. Here, you will find shops, cafés, hotels, restaurants, and many souvenirs. In the summer afternoons, the park is filled with hang gliders in the sky. Opposite the park is the luxurious Victoria-Jungfrau Grand Hotel & Spa. A walk along the banks of the River Aare is also recommended. This area is full of pubs and restaurants and is quieter than the main avenue. It is possible to explore the main areas of the city on foot!
