Highlights
  • Bus Station - Check in for your tour at the bus terminal Sihlquai and board the coach.
The journey begins with a round trip along the most important sights of Zurich.
  • Rapperswil Rose Gardens - Along lake Zurich you will then travel to Rapperswil and visit the castle with its rose garden and the deer park. You will also have some time at leisure to stroll through the picturesque Old Town.
  • Vaduz - In Vaduz, the capital of the tiny Principality of Liechtenstein you will have more time at leisure. A visit to the Post Office is recommended; the famous stamps from this tiny state are coveted worldwide by philatelists and amateur stamp lovers alike.
  • Heididorf - After a drive through the Rhine Valley we finally arrive at Maienfeld, the setting for the Heidi stories. In the summer months you visit Heidi’s village. A pleasant short walk leads to a collection of typical mountain houses, a village shop, and of course lots of little goats. Entry into the authentic Heidi House is optional.
  • Zurich - A beautiful trip back to Zurich along the banks of Lake Walen, guarded over majestically by the Churfirsten mountain range brings to a close this most nostalgic of Swiss tours.
  • Werdenberg - Please note - in wintertime, you’ll visit the quaint Swiss village of Werdenberg instead of Heidi’s village.
  • Ricken Pass - Then after crossing the Ricken Pass with its panoramic views of the Alps we reach the lovely Toggenburg region whose pretty hill and valley scenery is perfect chocolate box material!

Lichtenstein Day Trip - I wish there was more time in Lichtenstein, but overall a great tour! If anything the itinerary should be reversed so lunch can be in Vaduz.

Great day exploring! - Walter was a fantastic tour guide. Informative and funny lessons on the bus. Great way to check Lichtenstein off the list! Marc maneuvered the bus through streets I’d barely be able to bike through!

Liechtenstein and Heidiland Day Trip - I've been wanting to visit Liechtenstein for a long time and this year it became possible. Because Vaduz doesn't have a train station, it seemed to make the most sense to take this tour. Overall, it was very enjoyable. Rapperswil is charming (although we could have done without the rain), Heidiland was fun - just barely long enough to see most of it - and we were glad to be able to walk around Liechtenstein for a while. The bus driver was friendly and drove us around comfortably and on time. The tour guide was also friendly and informative. The one complaint we have has to do with the timing. The tour didn't start until 11 AM. We were ready for lunch by the time we were due to leave Rapperswil, but it was raining and we would not have had time to eat in a restaurant before we had to return to the bus, nor were we allowed to eat in the bus. Nor did we see any place where we could buy a sandwich to eat later, not that there would have been much time to for eating. I had researched things to see and do in Liech'n and one of the sights was an exhibit of the crown jewels. The guide had not mentioned this and when I was going to ask her while in the souvenir shop, she was not to be found. We really didn't have time to do much more than walk down the main street. When we finally found where the crown jewel exhibit is it was 10 minutes to 5 and they were closing in 10 minutes so we couldn't buy a ticket. We also didn't have time to go into the church. (Not sure whether it was open or not - many things seemed to be closing). If the tour had started at 9 or even 10 AM, more time could be given for lunch, with perhaps a list of places to eat, and more time plus a list of sights to visit could be allocated for Vaduz.

Not worth the time - It was a long day with really not much to see. The guide was loud and not knowledgeable and kept the microphone on even when he was not addressing the guests. Coughed many times into the microphone. The bus had an odor. Not an enjoyable time

Mainly Transportation; Commentary Mostly Uninspiring or Inaudible - Overall, this tour was ok - it is a long day of bus riding. The tour guide commentary was minimal, often hard to hear and less than inspiring. If you really want to see Heidiland and/or Lichtenstein, then this works, but this tour mainly provides transportation vs in-depth information about the region. Finding the "Bus Terminal" in Zurich was a challenge because it is just a parking lot. In the parking lot there are three small trailers, each for different tour operators. There is no "terminal" building here. When we arrived, a bus was parked in front of the trailers blocking our view of them and leaving us quite confused about checking in. The bus was a double-decker and was fairly full. The guide commentary on the bus was ok since he had a microphone. In each location, the guide had no microphone or any other device to amplify his voice, so unless you were standing right near him, you could not hear his commentary. This seemed very poorly thought out, since the bus can hold between 70-90 people... Tour should mention that there is time in Rapperswil (first stop) to have lunch... and also, the Heidiland stop was before Vaduz on our tour. The tour left the terminal late (at least 15-20 mins) and while meeting times were set at each location, the driver and guide were usually not there until after the appointed time and we usually left 15 minutes later than stated. It would have been nice if they had been there early, opened and cooled the bus down for the waiting tour participants. The only time they were on time was the final departure back to Zurich, but unfortunately someone had missed the bus due to confusion on the meeting time, so we had to return to Leichtenstein. (The tour operator said to meet at 'quarter to six', but if you missed the "quarter to" part, you may have thought the meeting time was six. He probably should just say 5:45 in the future to avoid any issues!)
