Awesome Cooking Experience - Best day in Zihua! Carlos picked us up at our hotel and drove us downtown to the Mercado. He showed us so much and explained everything so well. Walking through with a narrator explaining things was so much better than just walking through by ourselves. After purchasing some ingredients for our day he drove us to their lovely home. We spent several hours with Elsa making some of the best Mexican dishes. We made Jamaica, sopes, tamales, shrimp chili rellanos, taquitos, enchiladas, guacamole, and tortilla chips. The fresh ingredients, and wonderful instruction made for a memorable day. Don’t eat before you go…you will be so sad if you are too full to try everything.

A culinary tour like no other. - What an amazing and authentic way to experience the local cuisines for Zihuatanejo than with those who live in the community. Starting with a market Tour, Carlos showed us around the Zhihua markets and showed where the produce was sourced. Then onto their home where Elsa involved us in the creation of no less than 5 dishes. All prepared right in front of us. The tour went well beyond the normal, you can see why they have been doing it for 35+ years. Highly recommended for all ages.

A cooking class to remember! - Carlos and Selma invited us into their home where we enjoyed both a relaxing experience and new methods of creating dishes we have always enjoyed. This was so much more than the usual programmed cooking class. We felt that at least for a few hours we became a part of their family,

Wonderful day - Carlos picked us up from our hotel and we went to the market. It is an exotic maze of stalls that sell almost everything. The variety of fruit, vegetables, herbs, spices, chilies, flours, corn products, coffee, and all kinds of kitchen tools and dishware is unrivaled by any large grocery or superchain. The prices are also a fraction of what you find in other store. We found it fascinating even though there were some things that we would never consider buying. We then went to his beautiful home with a huge shaded garden where his wife Elsa was already doing some pre-prep. We had some delicious herbal tea before starting our cooking adventure. We learned how to make sopas, toquitos, stuffed fire roasted poblano peppers, tamales in corn husks, and delicious salsas. Elsa was even able to accommodate my wife's cow dairy allergy with tasty alternatives. We had a toast of mezcal prior to eating. While we are not typically fond of mezcal, their offering was a pleasant surprise. The food was delicious as we enjoyed some red wine and continued to learn about Zihuatanejo and other places they lived. The tour has certainly been the highlight of our awesome vacation.

A Wonderful Hands-On Cooking Experience - We had a very enjoyable morning with Carlos and Elsa making a variety of classic Mexican dishes. First, Carlos picked us up and took us to the central market in Zihuatanejo to shop for fresh ingredients. Then, we went to their comfortable home where Elsa taught us her recipes to make jamaica tea, guacamole, salsa and homemade chips, taquitos, potato and cheese tamales, chiles rellenos and chicken and cheese enchiladas. Everything was delicious and, needless to say, we did not leave hungry. We also enjoyed a delicious dessert and got to meet several of their rescue dogs, a big bonus for us dog lovers. We highly recommend this experience to anyone who loves good food and good company!

A experience everyone should have! - This was, without a doubt, the best part of our vacation in Ixtapa. Carlos and his wife are so entertaining and informative, and the food we made is the best. We arrived strangers and left with new friends.

Authentic and j extremely fun and pleasant day! - This was one of the best excursions we have ever been on. Both Carlos and Elsa are amazing hosts and welcomed us into their beautiful home. It was truly a hands-on experience from marketing with Carlos to cooking with Elsa is an extraordinary experience. Elsa is an excellent teacher as well as chef. We would definitely do another excursion and recommend highly.
