- Taroko National Park - The Taroko Gorge, formed around 250 million years ago and emerging about 4 million years ago, has evolved into a vertical canyon due to prolonged river erosion and continuous crustal uplift. This unique landscape is often called the “Grand Canyon of Taiwan.” Famous trails like Swallow Grotto (Yanzikou), Tunnel of Nine Turns, Changchun Shrine, Buluowan, and the Xiaozhuilu Trail are part of this stunning scenery.
- Buluowan Terrace - Located on the eastern side of the Taroko Gorge, Buluowan is a river terrace divided into upper and lower sections. It was once inhabited by the Taroko indigenous people, and “Buluowan” means “tracking prey” in their language.
- Changchun Shrine - This trail invites adventurous explorers to journey through lush forests, fascinating geological formations, and waterfalls, ultimately reaching the Changchun Shrine.
- Tunnel of Nine Turns Trail - Carved into the mountainside, the Tunnel of Nine Turns (Jiuqudong) offers a winding path with breathtaking views of the surrounding marble cliffs and the Liwu River.
- Qingshui Cliff - Upon exiting Taroko National Park, the final stop is Qingshui Cliff, one of Taiwan’s top ten scenic spots. Rising over a thousand meters, the road extends for more than 20 kilometers, almost perpendicular to the Pacific Ocean. One side features the vast sea, while the other presents the dramatic cliff, creating a thrilling and spectacular view.

The Taroko Gorge was created approximately 250 million years ago. Around four million years ago, the island of Taiwan emerged from the collision of tectonic plates. Over time, stream erosion and crustal uplift have shaped a vertical canyon, often referred to as Taiwan’s “Grand Canyon” due to its unique landscape.
