Highlights

Hotel pick up, visit Tianzi Mountain (Cable car), Yuanjiajie Mountain (elevator), Zhangjiajie Glass Bridge, back to hotel.

Tianzi Mountain - Also known as the Kingdom of Peaks, Tianzi Mountain boasts over 1,000 peaks. Numerous viewing platforms offer different perspectives of these unique peaks, adorned with beautiful trees reminiscent of traditional Chinese paintings, often described as an enlarged Bonsai or a mini fairyland. The most renowned view here is the Imperial Writing Brush, the first image featured on Zhangjiajie stamps and the official picture of the park. Many visitors consider Tianzi Mountain the most beautiful mountain in the world.

In 1986, Helong Park was established on Tianzi Mountain to commemorate the 90th birthday of Helong, one of the ten marshals in the PLA, whose hometown lies at the mountain’s base. Visitors can see his bronze statue with a horse and his cemetery. The Tianzi Mountain Cable Car offers a scenic ride up the mountain.

BaiLong Elevator - At Yuanjiajie Avatar Mountain, you can explore the large mesa platform for about an hour, passing the Sky Pillar, the tallest floating mountain featured in the movie Avatar, standing 350 meters above the ground. Known as the Sky Pillar or Avatar Mountain, it is the most famous spot here. The Heaven Bridge, 350 meters high, is the highest natural bridge in the world, earning the title of No. 1 bridge globally. The Enchanting Platform offers a mesmerizing view of green mountains in various shapes and distances, making it easy to lose track of time. The Bailong Elevator, holding three world records, takes you down the mountain. It is the highest outdoor sightseeing elevator at 326 meters, the fastest glass sightseeing elevator at 5 meters per second, and the largest elevator, carrying 64 people at once. The 88-second ride to the top offers views of 48 peaks resembling generals in formation.

Zhangjiajie Glass Bridge - Our guide will take you to the Zhangjiajie Glass Bridge, which set 10 world records upon its opening in August 2016. Challenge yourself on this 355-meter-high glass bridge, where you can feel as if you’re touching the sky. The bridge also offers a bird’s-eye view of the stunning canyon below.

Hotel pick up to visit Tianmen Mountain, back to hotel or to Zhangjiajie airport & train station.

Tianmen Mountain National Forest Park - Tianmen Mountain, the highest mountain in Zhangjiajie at 1,518.6 meters, is a renowned national forest park since 1992 and the second 5A spot in Zhangjiajie. Visitors are often amazed by the steep cliffs, the natural beauty, and the panoramic views of the mountains and city. The mountain is famous for the Tianmen Cave, a natural arch formed by a cliff collapse in ancient times. The park features the 7.5 km-long Tianmen Mountain Cableway, the Bonsai Garden in the air, plank roads, a glass walkway, Tianmen Cave, and the Heaven-linking Avenue, all of which are worth exploring.

Breathtaking - Lulu was a great guide, she cited poetry, explained local legends, had a lot of stamina and knew how to find quiet spots in the midst of a tourist season. Don't get me wrong - there are a lot of very loud tour groups and tourists in Zhangjiajie, so better to be warned. The nature is stunning (I got lucky, arriving one day after it rained and the fresh air was exquisite). I think it is possible to do this independently, but because I had limited time, a guide was definitely worth it!
