Family friendly penguin tour - We had a wonderful day visiting the penguins. We were picked up from our hotel and greeted by our friendly guide Terry. He gave us water for the car ride. He drove along the coast and we saw amazing views of the ocean, sand dunes and local wildlife. Before the boat tour, Terry gave us some nice snacks for the ride. I went on the tour with my husband, son and mother in law. We found the tour is great for any age. We went to the boat and saw a sea lion and local bird life. We then headed towards the island and the scenery is really gorgeous. The water is a little choppy, but I usually get sick on boats and I was able to finish the boat tour with nausea stickers without getting sick. We arrived to the island where we saw a lot Penguins, pelicans and vultures in their natural habitat. After the boat tour, we walked around the park and explored. We saw many types of plants and salt on the rocks. Then, we went to lunch where we had natural juices and some local dishes. It was a wonderful day and Terry was knowledgeable about the island and local city.

Loved the penguin tour ate the best empanadas I’ve ever had in my life and enjoyed Valparaiso sightseeing - Lautaro was an amazing guide for our penguin experience. He’s spoke English very well was fun and kind. The penguins were hilarious in a little fishing boat and we thoroughly enjoyed it. We went to Valparaiso and had a wonderful picture on their sign then went to have empanadas at the most amazing restaurant called monkey or something. I highly recommended best empanadas I’ve ever had in my life! Highly recommend this tour, and this tour company, the car with air conditioned with seatbelts.

Penguins are so darn cute!! - Ok, so this tour (with any company) is on the expensive side, but still well worth it. Be sure whoever you book with that the boat to the island is included. You may be able to walk somewhere on the coastline where you could see them with a really good camera lens or binoculars, but it would not be nearly as good. The boat ride out itself is an experience and was quite choppy, which is not a problem for us but maybe someone else. Expect about 30 minutes out, 30 minutes or so around the island, and 30 minutes back. You should also be flexible since the boats can not go out every day due to weather (we shifted our a day at our guides suggestion due to the forecast which was a very good decision) Our guide's English was OK, but he did work to make it a great experience and it was.

The Perfect Day Trip - Terry took us on a leisurely drive to Zapallar which is a small, lovely town with a beautiful beach walk. We got to enjoy this beautiful area and then we boarded our small boat for a trip to Cachagua Island to see the Humbold Penguins. We had a chance to see the penguin nesting areas, the baby penguins and mamas guarding their nest from the vultures overhead. Terry was very knowledgable about the Chilean history throughout the trip We learned a lot and had a lovely time. After touring we stopped at a famous spot for empanadas. Yum. It was a perfect day trip.

Great coastal tour - We highly recommend this private tour to see nearby coastal towns and visit a protected penguin colony. Our guide Terry was knowledgeable, friendly, prompt and efficient. He even supplied binoculars during the private boat ride and took us to a lunch of great empanadas. I wish we were in Chile longer to try his horseback, kayaking and mountain biking tours!

Great experience! - This tour was one of the highlights of our trip to Chile! It was my wife and I as well as our two sons, ages 14 & 11, as well as my son’s friend, also age 14. The waves were predicted to be too rough on day we originally had scheduled our tour. Fortunately, Waldo was able to reschedule our tour for the afternoon before as we were free and the waves were not so rough. Our tour guide was Esteban – a very kind and knowledgeable guide. He was very flexible and seemed to get joy from us having a nice experience:-) Transportation was solid to/from our Airbnb in Valparaiso. The boat was just big enough for our group of 5 plus our tour guide. It was so cool to see penguins for the first time in their natural environment! Our boat captain was Juan, who seemed very experienced. After our boat ride, we walked around areas where we saw cool plants, some of which we had never seen before as we are from the US. Though not deserted, we were surprised that our tour areas were not overcrowded with tourists, which was nice. On the way back, we stopped at a place where we had the best empanadas I’ve ever had! Highly recommended! Tip: we had two members of our party who sometimes get seasick. If this is you, I recommend taking some of the seasickness medication medication before you get on the boat. We are only on the boat about a 30 minutes.
