Highlights
  • Old Slave Market/Anglican Cathedral - In this section, travelers will explore the slave market site, featuring a monument and chambers where slaves were once held with insufficient food and water. Additionally, visitors will see an exhibition and the church that houses the grave of Bishop Edward Steere and a Christian cross made from the wood under which David Livingstone died.

  • Freddie Mercury Museum - This is the house where Freddie Mercury was born and raised. Typically, we will view it from the outside, but there is an option to enter and explore his museum.

  • Forodhani Gardens - Known as Silver Jubilee Garden in the 18th century, this area was the main entry point for slaves arriving from the African mainland and Arab traders. Today, it has transformed into the Forodhani Night Market.

  • Darajani Bazaar - This local market for spices, vegetables, and seafood was built during Arab rule in 1902 and designed by British and Indian architects.

  • The Old Fort (Ngome Kongwe) - Originally a Portuguese fort built in the 17th century under Vasco da Gama to protect against enemies, it was the first structure built by the Portuguese. Later, Arabs developed the city, and during their rule, the fort served as a theater. Under British rule, it became a women’s tennis court.

  • Darajani Bazaar - This area was once an Indian bazaar where travelers can experience local shops, handicrafts, and the culture of Zanzibar.

  • Stone Town - Walking through Zanzibar City and the narrow streets of Stone Town, visitors can meet locals, sightsee, and view old buildings dating back to the 17th century, learning why the city is called Stone Town.

Excellent - We stayed in Zanzibar during early February and the Concierge at our hotel put us in touch with Abdul to organise our tours etc. whilst on the Island Abdul visited our hotel and could not have been more helpful with tailor making our experiences at very competitive prices for our whole stay in Zanzibar We did a number of tours: Spice Farm/Prison Island/Stonetown walking tour Butterfly Sanctuary/Forest and Lunch at the Rock - which Abdul kindly organised/booked for us Safari Blue - boat trip/snorkelling Turtle Sanctuary and Northern Beaches Abdul was extremely reliable with collecting from our hotel and extremely helpful in organising our days whilst he was with us - we could not recommend him or praise him enough and would highly recommend him and his company above the vast number of other 'operators' vying for custom. Our days out were very well organised which meant we did not have to worry about a thing.

Exploring Culture and Nature: A Memorable Journey - We were very fortunate with our knowledgeable driver. Learned a lot about the culture and the island between activities. Our Abdul was friendly, and it was a pleasant drive. I recommend others to book through this company.
