The private transport will take guests as close as possible to the Capua canyon, where the walk to the waterfall begins. This walk takes approximately one hour.
Reaching the start of the Capua canyon is a delightful experience, offering a stunning view of the contrast between the arid hills and the lush greenery of the canyon, typically under a bright sun and clear blue sky.
This hike is family-friendly. Initially, guests will pass through some farm fields and then descend into the canyon, walking along a narrower path and crossing streams. This part of the hike is quite enjoyable, with small waterfalls where guests can cool off and take photos.
- Capua Waterfall - The natural beauty of this area provides charming views worth exploring. Except on weekends, there is usually a low number of tourists, allowing guests to fully appreciate the beauty and tranquility of this natural attraction.
- Yura Viejo - After the waterfall hike, guests will visit the thermal baths of La Calera in the traditional town of Yura, with temperatures ranging from 20 ºC to 30 ºC. Although not very hot, these pools are excellent for rejuvenation and are renowned throughout Arequipa for their healing properties. They contain alkaline sulfur, iron salts, and other minerals believed to cure rheumatism, arthritis, poor blood circulation, skin diseases, obesity, stomach issues, nervous disorders, and stress, according to studies by German Tadeo Haenke and Dr. Edmundo Escomel.
After the baths, guests can stroll around Yura, observing republican mansions built with pink ashlar (volcanic stone) and visiting the old lime kilns. Lunch and return to Arequipa are scheduled for around 4:00 pm.
- Pozo de Aguas Termales El Tigre - This complex offers four medicinal pools with temperatures between 29º C and 32º C. Each pool has separate changing facilities for men and women, along with showers and toilets. The therapeutic properties include treatment for rheumatism, arthritis, obesity, skin diseases, veins, respiratory system, urinary tract, and eye disinfection by immersion. However, it is not recommended for individuals with heart problems, diabetes, or pregnant women.
- Aguas Termales de Yura - The waters of each pool are renowned for their health benefits, treating conditions such as rheumatism, arthritis, and diabetes, and strengthening muscles, bones, and tendons. The pools have a combination of sulphurous and thermoquinose properties, offering medicinal benefits for diabetes, nervous system disorders, and strengthening muscles, bones, and tendons. However, they are not recommended for individuals with hypertension.
