Yogyakarta Palace - Sample Itinerary
(Please note that if pick-up is from a hotel in Bali, flights from Yogyakarta to other destinations are not included)

From Yogyakarta:

9 am: Our driver will pick you up from your hotel lobby in Yogyakarta.

Visit the Yogyakarta Sultan Palace, including its museum and the Water Castle-Tamansari. Continue with a walk along Malioboro, the main tourist area in central Yogyakarta.

Travel to either Prambanan Temple or Borobudur Temple, depending on your arrival day.

Check-in at our partner hotel in central Yogyakarta.

Borobudur Temple Tour or Prambanan Temple Tour

Borobudur Temple - 3:30 am: Pick-up from your hotel lobby and travel to Puthuk Setumbu Hill to witness the sunrise over Borobudur, or to Dhagi Hill for a picnic breakfast with Javanese gamelan music and storytelling (additional USD 25 per person, subject to seat availability).

8:30 am: If tickets are available at this time, explore the structure of Borobudur Temple up to its ninth floor.

Optionally, enjoy a Borobudur village tour for an additional USD 25 per person, using a traditional Javanese horse cart to experience the local lifestyle and cultural values. Witness beautiful scenery and rural life, including rice planting/harvesting, rice grinding, tofu making, pottery, bamboo crafts, and more.

Prambanan Temples - 3 pm: Car trip to Prambanan Temple from central Yogyakarta.
4 pm: Prambanan Temple sunset tour.

Return to your hotel.

Yogyakarta - Surabaya

Yogyakarta Station - 5 am: Hotel checkout. Request breakfast delivery to your room at 5 am, or have it packed the evening before.

5:30 am: Travel by car to Yogyakarta train station for a train journey to Surabaya.

Gubeng Railway Station - 11 am: Our driver will pick you up at Gubeng Railway Station.

Continue to Bromo.

Bromo Tengger Semeru National Park - Arrive in the Bromo area, check into a local hotel/guesthouse.

Rest and relax. A brief orientation about the next morning’s Bromo jeep sunrise tour, starting at 3 am.

Bromo Sunrise Tour

Bromo Tengger Semeru National Park - 3 am: Our guide/driver will pick you up at the hotel lobby or knock on your room door. Proceed by jeep to three epic Bromo sunrise viewpoints: the usual Bromo sunrise viewpoint and two hidden, peaceful (non-touristic) viewpoints; one requires a 45-minute hike, the other a 1-hour moderate trek offering stunning views of Mount Bromo’s crater. Ideal for those seeking a unique Bromo experience.

Afterwards, visit the Bromo savannah and sea of sand. If possible, meet the Tengger people, the native inhabitants of Bromo.

Return to the hotel, have breakfast, and check out.
Travel to Bondowoso for the Ijen sunrise trek the following day.

Optional: Before Ijen, visit Tumpak Sewu, a magnificent tiered waterfall, after checking out from Bromo. Stay overnight for an early morning waterfall trek, additional USD 85 per person.

Bondowoso - Arrive in Bondowoso, check into a hotel for the 1 am trip to the Ijen Blue Fire Trek (only if gas levels are safe. Otherwise, depart at 3 am for the Ijen sunrise trek).

Ijen Crater Blue Fire Trek - Drop Off Bali

Ijen Crater - 1 am: Check out from the Bondowoso hotel for the Ijen Blue Fire Trek (only if gas levels are safe. Otherwise, depart at 3 am for the Ijen sunrise trek).

Enjoy a local breakfast.
Continue to Ketapang Harbor.

Take a public ferry to Gilimanuk Harbor, Bali.

Gilimanuk - Our Bali driver will pick you up at the harbor exit gate, holding a sign with your name.

Drop-off at your hotel in Bali (Pemuteran/Lovina/Ubud/Canggu/Kuta/Sanur/Seminyak). Tour concludes.
