Welcome to Armenia
Yerevan - Upon arrival at the airport, guests will be transferred to their hotel in Yerevan. After checking in, lunch will be enjoyed at the “Wine Republic” restaurant. Following lunch, there will be a leisurely stroll through the charming pink city of Yerevan.
The city tour includes a visit to the statue of the national hero from the epic poem Sasuntsi David, and the Cathedral of Gregory the Illuminator. Additionally, the tour will visit one of Yerevan’s most beloved attractions, the architectural complex of Cascade, where the Cafesjian Center for Contemporary Arts is located.
After exploring the museum, there will be a walk around Republic Square. Guests may choose to rest briefly at the hotel before dinner at “Yerevan Tavern,” featuring folk music, dance, and homemade wine. The evening will conclude with a visit to Republic Square to enjoy the “Singing Fountains” show.
Tour to Garni-Geghard and Cognac Tasting
Garni Temple - After breakfast at the hotel, the tour will proceed to Garni and Geghard.
The first stop will be at the Charents Arch monument, offering a stunning view of Mount Ararat in good weather. Garni, a pagan temple, is a symbol of pre-Christian Armenia and served as a royal summer residence.
After exploring this remarkable site, the tour will continue to Geghard Monastery, a UNESCO World Heritage site. Lunch will be hosted by a local villager, featuring lavash baked in a “tandoor,” along with vegetables and meat.
The tour will then return to Yerevan to visit the Matenadaran Museum, a research institute of ancient manuscripts. Following this, a visit to the renowned Yerevan Brandy Factory “Ararat” will take place.
After the museum tour, which highlights the history of Armenian brandy, guests will sample two types of cognac. The evening will be free for leisure in Yerevan.
Vayots Dzor Region
Vayots Dzor Province - Departure from the hotel will lead to the southern wine region of Armenia, Vayots Dzor.
The first stop is Khor Virap Monastery, offering a breathtaking view of the biblical Mount Ararat. Here, the legend of Noah, who planted a vine and first made wine after saving all living beings, will be recounted.
The next stop is near the “Bird Cave,” where archaeologists discovered the world’s oldest shoe and a 6,000-year-old winery. Although excavations continue, visitors will witness the ongoing work in this mystical cave. The tour will then visit the Noravank Monastery complex, built in the 13th-14th centuries and nestled among mystical red rocks. In the Areni wine region, local winemakers produce the renowned Areni red wine from the indigenous grape of the same name.
A tour and wine tasting will be held at the “Old Areni” factory, followed by dinner at a delightful restaurant serving Armenian cuisine and beverages.
Overnight accommodations will be in the village of Hermon at the comfortable “LucyTour Hotel Resort,” with dinner served at the hotel’s restaurant.
The Northern Wine-Making Regions
Ijevan - After breakfast, the tour will proceed to Ijevan, with the main destination being the “Ijevan Wine and Brandy Factory.”
During the visit, a tour of the factory’s grounds will be conducted. An experienced guide will explain the unique wine-making traditions of the Tavush region, known for its moderate microclimate.
The management team will share the winery’s history and detail the entire wine-making process step by step. Guests will explore the winery’s grounds, wine vaults, cellars with collection wines, and the areas where cognac aging occurs.
Following the tour, a wine and cognac tasting will be organized. Lunch will be in the village of Haghpat at the “Civilian” guest house.
The tour will then visit Haghpat Monastery, a significant medieval religious and educational center in Armenia, included in the UNESCO World Heritage list. The tour will also visit Odzun Monastery, built in the 4th century, before returning to Yerevan for a free evening.
Winery “Voskevaz”
Voskevaz Winery - The fifth day of the tour will focus on purchasing Armenian delicacies and souvenirs.
The tour will visit the famous open-air market “Vernissage” to find Armenian souvenirs, followed by a trip to the GUM market for dried fruits and sweets. Lunch will be at the elegant “Voskevaz” restaurant.
After lunch, the tour will proceed to the “Voskevaz” winery, located in the village of the same name. This producer is renowned for its unique wines.
Guests will have the opportunity to tour the beautiful Marans (vaults) of Voskevaz and sample exquisite Armenian wine paired with a selection of meats and cheeses. This will be the perfect conclusion to a wine tour in Armenia.
