- Cody - Our hometown, Cody Wyoming is filled with tons of Wild West adventures and activities, including the hall of fame rodeo, Old Trail town, Cody Cattle Company and the Center of the West museum.
- Yellowstone Lake - Descend this winding road from Sylvan Pass from the East entrance to Yellowstone to see stunning vistas of the worlds largest alpine lake, Yellowstone Lake with fumaroles, mud pots, and wildlife as you enter this majestic terrain.
- Fishing Bridge General Store - Our first in park stop for restrooms and meeting location for people coming from elsewhere besides Cody, WY. This is in the southwest quadrant of Yellowstone. For a map of the park please visit the NPS Yellowstone website or send us a message for a link.
- Dragon’s Mouth Springs - Witness the first hydrothermal area of Yellowstone as we briefly stop at Mud Volcano and Dragon’s Mouth Springs to learn about some of the more acidic features of the park and the role microbes play in this unique environment.
- Hayden Valley - In our first major area for wildlife viewing, in Hayden Valley, you are likely to see Bison, Elk, and coyotes, with the possibility of Bears, Wolves, and Moose.
- Grand Canyon of the Yellowstone - Be prepared to be amazed as we guide you to Artist Point on the South Rim of the Grand Canyon of the Yellowstone. You will see the 20 mile long and up to 1,000 foot deep canyon colored in beautiful shades of crimson and ivory with the amazing Lower Falls view just upstream.
- Obsidian Cliff - See where 90% of the obsidian artifacts from the Ohio Valley to the Dakotas come from in the mecca of our ancestral obsidian collecting: Obsidian Cliff.
- Petrified Tree - Be in awe as we pass ancient petrified redwood trees from millions of years ago that have turned to stone from millennia of volcanic debris!
- Mammoth Hot Springs - Stop for lunch at the historic travertine terraces of Mammoth Hot Springs. These ever-changing limestone ridges coated with calcium carbonate are truly one of the most dynamic features of Yellowstone National Park.
- Fort Yellowstone Historic District - View the beginning of the world’s first National Park as we drive past buildings first constructed when the United States Army controlled Yellowstone National Park.
- Tower Fall - See Tower Fall and recognize it from one of the more famous historical paintings of Thomas Moran. Also a good location for restroom break and lunch depending on timing.
- Lamar Valley - Lamar Valley has been a wolf watching mecca since the reintroduction of wolves to Yellowstone in 1995. Also see hundreds of Bison as well as Elk, black and Grizzly Bears. This beautiful area of the Northern Range is considered to be the “Serengeti of the West” and you will certainly see why.
- Cooke City - Enjoy an old western mountain town as we stop for a pit stop in Cooke City, Montana.
- Chief Joseph Scenic Highway - See some of the best scenery Wyoming has to offer as we end our trip coming from the Beartooth Mtns back to Cody through the Chief Joseph Scenic Byway. See Birds of Prey, White-Tailed Deer, and rushing rapids while we learn about the ancient ‘floating mountain’ in Heart Mountain and the perils of the Nez Perce tribe.

This guided exploration of Yellowstone National Park emphasizes locations known for wildlife spotting, in addition to other significant and must-visit park attractions. This private excursion accommodates up to 14 passengers and mainly traverses either the Upper or Lower Loop of Yellowstone. Wildlife observation remains our main objective as we journey through the Hayden Valley, Gibbon Valley, and perhaps even the famed ‘American Serengeti’, Lamar Valley. Perfect Intro to Yellowstone - Our group of 7 (4 adults and 3 tween kids) had the most amazing day with Allison! All of our expectations were exceeded by a lot (even for the kids, and that can be tough sometimes)! Allison was so easy-going, and had the perfect day planned while also being flexible and making adjustments as needed based on what we were interested in and how the day was going in general. She was able to answer all our questions with in-depth knowledge, and her passion for what she does was obvious. We saw an amazing array of animals, the van was perfect, and the lunch was delicious. (So good, that we ordered from there again when we were in Cody.) Thank you so much for this amazing introduction to Yellowstone!

Fantastic Yellowstone Experience - Colter is a tremendous guide with great knowledge of Yellowstone, who is able to explain the history, geology, ecology of the park. He created a great trip with highlight visits to Norris Geyser Basin, Mammoth Hot Springs, and Grand Canyon of Yellowstone with amazing drives through Lamar Valley and Hayden Valley with some tremendous animal sightings. I highly Colter and CoveredGround Tours.

Amazing Tour - Colter went out of his way to make our day perfect. He was on time picking us up, accommodating with any and all of our requests, and had incredible facts about Yellowstone. He was personable and professional. The van was clean and comfortable. We had an amazing experience and will cherish our memories forever!
