Great day in a quiet riverside town - but don’t be tricked by overpriced trishaws. - Arrived at Pansodan jetty and whisked to tourist office, paid 4,000 chat each and was given a guide to come with us. Wary of scams I asked why and was assure that his services were covered by the fare. The young man was great, good English, very knowledgeable and likeable. We crossed the river and he picked three trishaws for me, my wife and himself. No fee was discussed. We spent over an hour visiting a pagoda, fishing village, monastery, recycling shop called Chuchu. great. Back at the pier we were told the fee for the trishaws was 50,000 chat each, that is 150,000 chat in total or £80.00. We said no and made it clear that we felt we were being cheated. The price came down to 10,000 each, we paid 5,000 each and left. A sad end to an otherwise lovely trip, the guide we had come to like and trust left us to make our own way on to the ferry and I kept back the sizeable tip I had planned to give him.

'watch the taxi/motorcycle scammers that greet you from the ferry' - the circular train is an excellent experience not to be missed, however the trip to dala is less interesting and unlees you want a twenty minute ride to the snake temple don't bother
