Great food, fun, and a Great Guide! - May was great, so energetic and friendly! She is quite knowledgeable about the good places in the market and navigating you around the best ways. May will customize the stalls you visit depending on a) how hungry you are, b) what you're interested in, and c) how adventurous you are. The Pork Pepper buns are not to be missed as is the fire and ice dumpling dessert! I would book this tour again in a heartbeat if I was back in Taipei!

Fun tour, highly recommend - Very enjoyable tour. I did my tour with May Ei and she shared lots of interesting facts about taiwanese food, similarities between Chinese and Taiwanese foods and culture, good spots to eat different types of foods, good places to buy souvenirs, etc. She started the tour with a visit to the temple and patiently explained the significance of the temple deities. Overall she made the tour very enjoyable and would definitely recommend her! Only recommendation is there's a lot to eat and try in the market so if positive do a group tour vs private so that you can order more variety of foods and share with each other.

A great tour of food, culture and history - May is an incredible host and guide. She was very helpful with directions and gave us tips for after our tour as well. We came to the tour after shopping and May helped us store our bags. She also gave us a great tour of the nearby temple. One of us was vegitarian and May made sure we had plenty of vegitarian options. May took every effort for us to have a good time, learn and feel confident to go to another night market by ourselves.

Personal tour through Raohe Night Market - Joseph met us promptly at the meeting spot and then took us through the chaotic and delicious Raohe Night Market. He offered to facilitate the purchase of anything we were interested in trying, but also made suggestions of his own, and pointed out who had the best version of whatever dish he was explaining. Joseph was also happy to answer questions we had about Taiwan in general, since his tour was the first thing we did when we flew in. Equal parts food tour and cultural tour, we learned a lot from Joseph. I would very much recommend Joseph's tour if you want a personalizable sampling of what the night market has to offer. Thanks Joseph!

Good introduction to the Taipei market scene - The insights of my tour leader, May Ei, enhanced my visit to the night market. I had some difficulty finding the meeting spot, and she interacted with my Uber driver to get clarification. Once I arrived, we started with the Ciyou Temple (next door), and then made our way through the market. May made me feel comfortable in an environment that can be overwhelming. She also introduced me to a dessert that I never would have tried on my own. I had hoped to do more sampling of food items in the market, but many items are sold in large-ish portions. For this reason, a group of 2-3 people would be ideal for those wanting to share various dishes.

Very knowledgeable guide - I had a wonderful time with May Ei! She met me at the station across from the temple and main entrance to the market. We went inside the temple and she explained how some things worked, such as burning the money for ancestors and what the burning incense meant in different parts of the temple. We walked down the full length of the market and she took me to places to eat. May Ei was very knowledgeable and she made me feel comfortable. I didn’t feel like I was rushed and my questions weren’t brushed off. She even went to the train station with me and made sure I got on the right train to get to the airport. I definitely recommend May Ei as a guide!

Raohe Street Food - Had a great time with Josefina, she helped us select the best food for us and did all of the translation. We’d definitely work with her again.

Slightly Disappointing - I had high expectations based on past reviews, but was disappointed. Our start time was delayed once before the day and twice the day of, once while we were already at the meeting location. We were hoping to hit the highlights but started with being told the line was too long for pepper buns (probably because of our late start). Compared to the other reviews on this tour, our guide shared very little on culture. He got his own food and left us a couple times. He definitely knew the market, different stands, and guided us through the crowd.
