Due to its steepness, Guoliang Tunnel is recognized as one of the Top Ten Dangerous Roads in the World and one of the Top Eighteen Peculiar Roads globally.

In the afternoon, explore Guoliangcun village. Guoliang Village is a small Chinese village nestled high in the Taihang Mountains. Its breathtaking scenery, astonishing road, unique landform, and charming local customs have attracted over 40 films and television shows to be filmed in Guo Liang Cun Village.

Highlights in Guo Liang Cun:

1: Grand Gorge with Red Rocks: Grand Gorge appears as if it was cut by a sharp axe, showcasing a unique landscape of stunning red rocks, waterfalls, and lush greenery. On the north side of this gorge, you can see a long road through the rocks with its 36 windows, which is the remarkable Guoliang Tunnel. On the south side, there are houses and sturdy elms growing on the cliffs. A waterfall cascades from the cliff into a small lake at the gorge’s bottom.

2: Sky Ladder: Sky Ladder is a long stone ladder with a history of over 600 years, composed of rugged rocks and stone pits on the cliffs. It served as the only route to leave Guo Liang Cun until the construction of Guoliang Tunnel. The difficulty of climbing this ladder hindered communication between Guo Liang Cun and the outside world, earning it the name Sky Ladder.

3: Guoliangcun Tunnel: Without the use of electric equipment or large machinery, the villagers carved a 1,300-meter-long Guoliang Tunnel along the mountain’s side and through it. Due to its steepness, Guoliang Tunnel is recognized as one of the Top Ten Dangerous Roads in the World and one of the Top Eighteen Peculiar Roads globally.
