One of the best tour guides we've ever had! - “Travel China Guide Tours” guide Carol spent the day with us as we experienced the Terra Cotta Warriors and the City Wall around old Xi’an. The “Travel China Guide” company had been recommended to us by several staff members at the Shekou International School in Shenzhen. We were very glad we took their advice! Our guide Carol, who is a lifelong resident of Xi’an presented us with endless information during the ride out of Xi’an to the UNESCO site. This made the trip to the site go quickly as we sat in rapt attention to Carol’s insights. She afforded us an in-depth understanding of the history of Xi’an and the surrounding area. In all of our travels our guide in Peru and Carol on this trip are tied as #1 in our book. The reason is both are well-versed in their knowledge of and ability to relate that information to us in an interesting and clear manner. Once we arrived at the Terra Cotta Warriors it was soon apparent that Carol knew how to move efficiently through the many groups of tourists. We slipped between buildings avoiding much of the ‘tourist trap’ shops, making a beeline to the important parts of the site. This allowed us to maximize the time we had to see the Warriors and educational displays and minimize the commercial distractions. Carol took us to the preferred traditional noodle restaurant for lunch and even helped translate my special dietary needs. If you are going to Xi’an you should definitely consider a tour with Travel China Guide Tours. And if you are lucky you can request Carol (WeChat: Carolchen08) as your guide!!! AAA+ experience!!

Terracotta Army - This tour was absolutely wonderful!!! If you are visiting the Terracotta Army you MUST request Celine as your tour guide. She is so knowledgeable and very accommodating to what you want. She made this tour even more amazing than what it already with explaining the history and all of the details. Her love for history made this tour that much better. I also recommend doing a private tour just because it was more personal and at your own pace.

Excellent day tour with Tracy - This day tour was part of a private 15 day tour booked through Travel China Guide. Our whole experience with this company was excellent, and our day with Tracy in Xi'an was no exception. All aspects of the listed tour were enjoyable, the driver was great and the car very comfortable for our group of 4. Tracy was a wonderful guide to spend the day with - she was very enthusiastic, spoke excellent English and was thoroughly organised at each location - we never felt rushed, and were able to spend as much time as we wanted exploring at our own pace. The Terracotta Warriors exhibit was over the top crowded, but quite breathtaking and beautifully laid out. Tracy somehow negotiated quick entry and exit away from the crowds - another big positive for taking an experienced guide rather than going solo. Our favourite part of the day was probably Muslim Street - I wasn't sure what to expect there, but Tracey gave us some bargaining tips and we thoroughly enjoyed pottering about the markets, and strolling along the streets experiencing the sights and smells of some rather unusual food vendors (and trying to pick exactly what some of those foods were !) Had some great ice-cream there too (yum) and met a couple of young Chinese girls who wanted to practice their English - lots of giggles and photos were had on both sides. Thanks Tracy for giving us a brilliant day in Xi'an xxx

Jacky and Kelly made our trip effortless - This was my second time booking with Travel China Guide, the first was a 5 day custom itinerary of Beijing. This time we wanted to skip Beijing and do the rest of the main highlights of China, HK and Macau. Kelly did a great job of helping me meet my budget but taking care of the difficult parts like booking some Chinese only hotels and the train tickets. We just got back and everything went perfectly, all transfer times were exactly right, all hotels were fine (one I booked myself somehow had gone through as a single breakfast despite there being two of us booked into the room... thanks booking.com... our TCG guide helped us fix that) and all our guides were excellent. Kelly made herself available to us should we have had any concerns but everything went so well that we didn’t need to contact her at all. Which I honestly thought we would we need to do at least once with such a complex itinerary. In Xi’an Jacky was extremely knowledgeable, gave us the right time per place based on asking us what we wanted out of each experience (we wanted more wall time and less museum time for example) and helped us pick out a lunch that suited our tastes. We had a total of 7 guides throughout our trip and he was one of our favourites. Thank you Jacky for making our trip to Xi’an so pleasurable, it was great to meet you and if I am ever back in Xi’an (1 day was enough but I’d recommend to others to do if you can fit it into your trip), I would definitely request for you to be our guide again.

Terracottas with Tracy - We had a lot of domestic travel within China, so when we finally got to Xi'an we were beat. But Tracy was super UPbeat which was refreshing since we were kind of dragging from lack of sleep on an overnight train. She was easy to spot when we got to the exit, despite the crowds (Chinese holiday). We had about a 45 minute drive to our hotel and she engaged in conversation the whole way! She told us about different historical moments and facts in Xi'an, let us know what the agenda was for the next day, bought tickets for a live show for us, and gave us some information about the hot springs at our hotel. The next day, we saw the Terracotta Warriors and Tracy was great about going at our pace (which was a bit quicker than some of the other tourists). She ensured we got plenty of photos and checked in with us before we would move on to the next place or activity. She showed us the City Wall and the Wild Goose Pagoda and then took us shopping in the Muslim Quarter. She didn't go with us but told us a few basic rules of bargaining and then let us go do our own thing. We enjoyed her company but appreciated that she wanted us to have some time to ourselves. We only got that one day with her (plus the transport to and from the train station) but it was a great experience. Tracy was very knowledgeable and fun to talk with. And both the bullet train and overnight train were great! I've never taken a train before but I prefer it over flying :) It was a short yet memorable stop in Xi'an.

3 day trip to Beijing and Xian - A colleague and I took a quick weekend away from work to visit Beijing and Xian. Both of our guides were super - Kitty and Celine. Every aspect of the trip was taken care of from picking us up and getting us to airport and all the train transfers. Every detail was like clockwork. Both ladies were so knowledgeable of the history of China and the attractions we saw - Temple of Heaven, Forbidden City, Summer palace, Great Wall, Hutong tour , Chinese acrobats in Beijing and the Terrracottoa solider and Muslim section in Xian. We had plenty of time, never rushed through any of the things we saw. It was a trip of a life time and so appreciative of China Travel and how they planned the trip to our needs and how it was all executed. It could not have gone any better. Thanks Linda, Celine and Kitty!!

Journey though Chinese History - Carol was professional, pleasant and passionate about guiding guests. As an ambassador of her beloved China, she provided thoughtful service and tailored the day to our needs and was flexible enough to alter the plan as our energy and interest changed. We look forward to returning for other visits.

Wow and thanks Jacky - The Terracotta Warriors are as impressive as everyone says, and MORE! They are beyond awesome. Jacky from China Travel Guide was a courteous knowledgeable guide who went in with us to explain things..and managed to keep track of both of us as we often took off in different directions. He and the Warriors were worth the money, and having our own driver and guide made everything stress free.
