The Museum of Qin Terracotta Warriors and Horses - Arrive at the Terracotta Warriors Museum where the tour guide will introduce all significant figures, horses, and weapons. By observing the terracotta figures found here, visitors can envision the appearance of Qin soldiers from 2000 years ago. The horse carts and weapons on display provide insight into the soldiers’ combat methods. A closer look reveals that each figure has unique facial expressions, which is remarkable given the number of figures present. This highlights the magnificence of the work and explains why the Terracotta Warriors Museum is considered the eighth wonder of the world.
Xi’an City Wall (Chengqiang) - Visit a local family residing in a Traditional Cave Dwelling. The tour guide will explain why this type of dwelling is favored by locals.
After departing from the Terracotta Warriors, return to the city, which takes about 50 minutes, allowing time for a brief rest before the afternoon tour.
3:00 p.m.: Visit the Ancient City Wall, with options to walk, ride a bike, or take a golf cart. This City Wall is the best-preserved and most complete wall surviving from China’s extensive history. It stands approximately 12 meters high, 12 to 14 meters wide at the top, and 15 to 18 meters thick at the base. The entire circumference is about 13.7 kilometers, so walking the entire length can take some time.
Farmers’ Caves - Visit a local family living in a Traditional Cave and learn about the life of local farmers. Although it may be hard to imagine living in a cave, it was quite common a few decades ago in Shaanxi Province. Surprisingly, cave dwellings were comfortable, staying cool in summer and warm in winter. Some people in northern Shaanxi province still live in this manner today.
Hotel pick-up at 9:00 a.m → Hanyangling Museum → Big Wild Goose Pagoda → Bell and Drum Tower Square → Muslim Quarter
Tomb of Emperor Jingdi (Hanyangling) - 9:00 a.m.: Be ready for pick-up by a friendly tour guide.
9:30 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.: Begin the day tour at China’s only underground museum - Hanyangling Museum, also known as Jingdi’s Tomb. Located near the airport, about 30 km north of Xi’an City, this is the burial site of Emperor Jingdi and his wife Empress Wangzhi, dating back 2,100 years. Visitors will see funeral goods such as pottery figurines from the Han Dynasty, Luojing Stone used for measurement, and various stelae with inscriptions.
Big Wild Goose Pagoda (Dayanta) - 1:40 p.m. - 3:30 p.m.: The afternoon tour starts with a visit to the Big Wild Goose Pagoda, located inside the Da Ci En temple. Built during the Tang Dynasty to store Buddhist sutras and figures brought back from India by Xuan Zang, it is the largest and earliest square pagoda constructed. Now remodeled and expanded into a large park, it is a popular spot for locals to relax on sunny days. At night, visitors can enjoy local dancing, singing, children playing, fountain shows, and various stalls offering local snacks.
Xi’an Bell Tower - 3:50 p.m. - 4:20 p.m.: Visit the iconic Square of Bell Tower and Drum Tower. In ancient times, the bell and drum were used to mark time in the morning and evening, as clocks and watches were not available, leading to the saying ‘Morning Bell and Dusk Drum’ in Chinese. These towers are a symbol of Xi’an and are among the best-preserved in China.
Muslim Quarter - 4:20 p.m. - 5:00 p.m.: Explore the Muslim Quarter, renowned for its diverse food offerings. While it is a tourist attraction, locals see it as a hub for snacks and entertainment. Especially in summer, many locals enjoy snacks and leisure activities here. The entire “Huifang” area is filled with restaurants and various Muslim food stalls, including highly acclaimed old shops. This is where visitors can experience the authentic Xi’an lifestyle, though further exploration is encouraged.
5:00 p.m.: Conclude the day tour and return to the hotel.
