Great insight to the History of Namibia - Excellent guides. A real insight into the torrid and sometimes brutal history of the City and Namibia as it fought for independence from the Germay and S Africa.

Great Tour of Windhoek - This tour was great to see the main monuments of Windhoek. Shaka (not sure of the spelling) was a wonderful guide and taught us a lot about the history and culture of Namibia. We also got to see Katutura, the township where lots of people live in Windhoek: It was eyes opening. I highly recommend this tour.

Shaka gave an exceptional tour of Windhoek - There were two options available….. wasn’t clear what the difference was but this one seemed to have more going on in the 3 hours. We were not disappointed! Shaka our guide picked us up on time and took us to see the Germanic church and the “coffee pot”, somewhat uglier building housing the national museum. He was full of info delivered in a friendly and entertaining way. We then went right into the township which was a real eye opener, and to a near braai/bbq place because the food market was unexpectedly closed. Then onto a women’s refuge place where they had a great shop full of superb items made by the residents. The reservoir at that location was a lovely place to have a cool drink too. Fantastic tour with Shaka. Thanks

Value for money :) - Was in Windhoek beginning of November 2024. This tour was great and value for money. The guide and driver Shaka was very knowledgeable especially about the history of the city and the sites that we visited. He picked me up on time, and was courteous, polite and also offered guidance in all the places that we visited. I would recommend chameleone tours any day. My booking was online the day before. They were responsive to every query and delivered to my expectations.

Informative and Engaging Half-Day Tour – Perfect for a Stopover - We took the Half-Day Windhoek City and Township Cultural Tour with Chameleon Safaris, and our guide, Shaka, made the experience truly engaging. We began with a visit to Christ Church and the Independence Memorial Museum, where we learned about Namibia's history. Next, we drove through Katutura, a historic township, followed by a visit to Penduka Village, a women’s empowerment center, where we learned about the crafts made by the women there. We also passed the unfinished Windhoek Waterfront Development and stopped at the lively Oshetu Community Market to sample some local beef. Our final stop was the Namibia Craft Center. Shaka provided great insights throughout, making the tour both informative and enjoyable.

Half day Windhoek City and Township Cultural Tour - We just completed this tour today. Our tour guide Anton was amazing! He was very knowledgeable, professional and an amazing individual who knew a great deal about the city, township and the beautiful country of Namibia. I would highly recommend this tour and definitely ask for Anton.

Brief insight into the city. Drive through the townships. Stop at the craft shop. - The minibus went through downtown Windhoek along Independance Street followed by a ride through the townships. On the way back, stop at the craft shop. The ride was moderately motivated that day. I had promised myself much more from the ride.

Unfortunately not as described - We came across this tour through the side of Ees. And booked about it, too. Unfortunately, it has nothing to do with what is advertised there. No VW bus, no snacks, no Wuma drink, no exit in Katutura, the Toyota Quantum not particularly comfortable. We were lucky and there were only three of us, if we had been more people and had to sit in the back we probably wouldn't have heard about what the guide told us during the tour. Our guide was super cool, had extensive knowledge and was very likable! The best was the visit to the local market. We wouldn't do the tour again and probably wouldn't recommend it. We're sorry. Especially not because we feel like we're being screwed about the link on the Ees page! This should be revised urgently!

OK but co firm you’re goi g to be picked up. - I gave this feedback to Chameleon Safaris, the operators of this tour, but they have failed to respond to me, hence posting here. I was not picked up as stated but worse, I was lied to by the company. I was due to be picked up between 8:30 and 9 am and when this didn’t happen, I contacted the company around 9:15 am, having found a WhatsApp number online for them. The lady I spoke to assured me the driver was on his way and stuck in traffic. It turned out that the tour had actually started without me and the other three people had already done the first couple of stops. The driver came back for me and that’s when it became obvious that I had been lied to. They had just forgotten about me and I’d have missed the tour if I hadn’t co tasted them myself. This soured the entire experience for me. I had been sat waiting for over one hour. The tour itself was okay, a lot of riding around looking out of a window. Standing outside a closed church and getting increasingly dehydrated because Chameleon Safaris had only supplied water for the other customers certainly didn’t help. The driver was kind enough to get me some water towards the end of the tour, for which I was very appreciative - this was the only saving grace on this trip. I would not use this company again. If the lady had just been honest from the start this review would’ve been very different. Customer service is important to me - clearly not to this company.

A friend had said you can see Windhoek in 10 minutes ... - The driver came to collect me half an hour late but she had informed me. I was the only one in the minibus; the driver was very pleasant but did not seem very informed. She later told me, when I asked, that she worked in the office and was not a trained guide; that the the other guides were away on a camp. Both of the churches on the tour were closed- Lutheran and Christchurch. The Alte Fest Museum was also closed, she said, since Covid. The Parliament Gardens were also closed. Why is this not in the info online? We stopped outside the History Museum but she said we were not going in. I insisted; why else do you visit a museum? I was keen to educate myself. A guide in the museum would have been helpful but you have to book in advance. I also asked to go to a local art gallery I had spotted; it was a small student exhibition. The 'guide' didn't know if there was a major art gallery in Windhoek. Then we went to the township centre to visit people who make crafts and food. Everyone had left; it was closed. This sounds like a joke but it's true! It was so hot- I could have stayed in with my aircon and pool. The only saving grace was that my guide escorted me through Checkers at peak time on Friday to buy a few things ; she was going to abandon me there but saw the look on my face when I said I didn't know how to get back to the hotel. I phoned the Tour Operator, Lark Tours, on my return; the owner was very contrite and said she would reimburse the full price of my tour. At least. It's about being professional.
