Windhoek- Etosha National Park
Etosha Pan - Guests will be collected from their hotel or lodge between 7 am and 8 am to ensure departure by 8:30 am. Heading north, a delightful lunch break will be enjoyed in Otjiwarongo or Outjo. The journey through the National Park will offer opportunities to spot wildlife such as elephants, rhinos, zebras, various game (oryx, kudu, wildebeest, impala, springbok, gemsbok), giraffes, hyenas, and the big cats of Africa: lions, leopards, and cheetahs inhabiting the vast grasslands. Arrival at the accommodation will be just before sunset. Dinner will conclude the day’s adventure, and rest will be needed to rise early and refreshed for the next day’s activities. Overnight at Toshari Lodge (campsite) or similar.
Etosha National Park
Etosha Pan - An early start is encouraged to embrace the natural surroundings and fresh air. After breakfast, the game drive will commence, offering a magnificent exploration, including visits to the waterholes. The Etosha pan (salt pan) will be visited before continuing the game drive across the park in search of the Big 4 and other animal species. A light lunch will provide a chance to rest and gather energy for the next adventure. After a brief relaxation, the final waterhole visit will offer a last appreciation of Namibia’s beauty. Return to the accommodation will be before sunset, allowing time for dinner and sharing stories and photos of the day’s experiences. Overnight at Toshari Lodge (campsite) or similar.
Etosha - Swakopmund
Swakopmund Museum - Guests will be picked up from their lodge between 7:00 and 8:00 am. A long drive of 540 km lies ahead, traveling via Outjo and turning off before Otjiwarango towards Omaruru. A picnic lunch will be enjoyed in Omaruru, a town with 14,000 inhabitants and 352 square kilometers of land. The journey continues via Karibib and Usakos, crossing the Namib Desert to Swakopmund. Arrival in Swakopmund will be mid-afternoon, allowing time to explore the charming seaside town on foot. The guide will be happy to recommend a good restaurant for the evening meal (own expense). Overnight at Plaza Hotel or similar.
Swakopmund- Cape Cross
Cape Cross - In the morning, an excursion to the seal colony at Cape Cross, north of Swakopmund, will offer the chance to experience thousands of fur seals up close. The rest of the day will be free to explore the town. Swakopmund is a delightful seaside town with numerous shops, a lovely beach (though the Atlantic is quite cold here), and an open-air curio market. There is also an excellent museum and the Namibian National Marine Aquarium. Various optional activities can be arranged, including a boat tour (with oysters and champagne), fishing trips (from the beach or a boat), quad-bike trips into the desert and over the sand dunes, sandboarding, skydiving, and more. The guide will discuss all possible optional activities and offer to make pre-bookings. Overnight at Plaza Hotel or similar.
Swakopmund - Sossusvlei
Sossusvlei - Namibia is a land of contrasts. Today, the journey moves from the sea to the desert. The route crosses the Tropic of Capricorn and traverses the Gaub and Kuiseb passes, descending to the dry riverbed at the bottom of the Kuiseb Canyon before climbing up the other side to reveal the spectacular desert landscape. A stop at Solitaire for lunch will be made before arriving at the lodge or campsite around 3-4 pm. As this time is extremely hot, it is recommended to cool off by the pool. Early rest is advised as an early start is expected the next morning. Overnight at Weltevrede Guest Farm or similar.
Sossusvlei, Dune 45, Big Daddy, Dead Vlei & Sesriem
Big Daddy Dune - An early rise will allow guests to witness the sunrise over the dunes. After driving to the center of the dune field, they will reach Sossusvlei on foot, a 5 km walk through the dunes in the cool morning air. The sun’s play on the dunes will change the contrasts of the entire desert. While walking, there is a chance to spot an ostrich in the wilderness. During the stay in Sossusvlei, guests will have the opportunity to climb Dune 45, the most photographed dune in the world.
As the day warms, guests will return to the campsite for lunch.
As evening approaches and the air cools, an excursion to Sesriem Canyon will be undertaken. A walk around the stone walls while listening to birdsong will be enjoyed. Overnight at Weltevrede Guest Farm or similar.
Sossusvlei- Windhoek
Sossusvlei - After breakfast, the journey back to Windhoek will commence, with a stop at Solitaire for provisions. The drive will pass through the beautiful Spreetshoogte Pass, with an expected arrival at the destination before lunch. Guests will be dropped off at the hotel or lodge of their choice.
