Time together - Early is better, hydrate, get a locker.
Make sure you have sunscreen and hat
Take your time early arrival means less wait time in line.

Thrilling, Well-Run, and Perfect for a Hot Summer Day! - We spent a full day at Water Country USA during our Williamsburg vacation, and it ended up being one of the most fun and memorable parts of the trip! Even with a heat index over 110°, the park made it easy to stay cool, comfortable, and entertained from open to close.
To beat the heat and make the most of the day, we reserved a private cabana and purchased Quick Queue passes—both of which were totally worth it. The cabana gave us a shady, private space to relax, hydrate, and take breaks, while the Quick Queue allowed us to skip the long lines and ride nearly everything without the usual wait. Just be prepared for the many flights of stairs—we definitely got our steps in!
Our group had a great mix of thrill-seekers and laid-back explorers, and the park had something for everyone. Some of us loved the big, fast slides—especially those that flipped and twisted—while others enjoyed the shows, animal encounters, and more relaxed attractions.
Even with the extreme temperatures, the park was clean, well-staffed, and well-organized. We took frequent breaks, stayed hydrated, and were pleasantly surprised by how manageable the day felt. We even ended with a final burst of energy—riding eight slides in the last hour alone!
As we left the park, one tired but happy voice said, “This was an absolutely amazing day.” And that really says it all.
Highly recommend Water Country USA for families and groups—it’s a fun, well-run park that offers a full day of summer fun. We’d absolutely go again!

Solid day trip option - We upgraded to stay at hubba hubba highway which include meals, chairs/umbrellas, and locker for $100 for 2 adults and 3 kids under 5. This was a fun day to relax with small children. Went on a weekday and wasnt that crowded. The water playground and the lazy river was the kids favorite

Not enough time to do it all - The park was not super crowded during our visit, and we barely had enough time to get to all of the attractions. The longest that we waited was 30 minutes for a ride, but several of the attractions that we wanted to ride were closed for the day. In addition to that, most staff members that we talked to did not know where the rides were that we were asking to find.
I really enjoyed the lazy river while wearing a life jacket. That was a different way to experience floating! Super unique!

No - The place is crowded and not enough staff hired to maintain the running of those facilities. Not as good as expected

Overpriced food and some rides not functioning. - I am an annual passholder and even though I have renewed the pass every year, I had not been to WC in several years. Today I went alone to get some sun and listen to the great music. Unfortunately the music at the Wave pool was so low that I could barely hear it and the Wave pool was not functioning. People were in the pool. but the waves did not operate.
After a couple of hours I went to get a drink at Pinky's and decided on a slurpee type. I wanted lemonade, but it was out. So I did a mixture of the others (not my favorites). When I went to pay for it, my mouth dropped open when the employee told me it would be over $8. I showed her my pass for a discount and the price dropped to about $7.40. Insane. For that price, I should have gotten a cup with free refills or at least a big plastic one to take home. This was a standard 16-20 ounce paper cup. When I mentioned that the lemonade was out, the employee just shrugged her shoulders.
The park was not overly busy on this Tuesday, and clearly there were not very many employees on staff. When I exited, it appeared that some of the other rides were not running.
My advice... fix the rides, turn the music up and lower the food and parking prices. Water Country is nice, but it is not Disney World and does not rate the prices being charged. On a positive note, I was encouraged that they still play the Star Spangled Banner just before opening.

Paid for Convenience, Got Chaos Instead - Our family went to Water Country hoping for a fun, easy day with the kids, especially since we had our special-needs nephew with us. We bought the All-Day Meal Pass thinking it would make things simple and stress-free. Instead, it turned into one of the most frustrating experiences we’ve ever had at a theme park.
From the start, it was clear the employees had no idea how the meal pass worked. We asked questions and got blank stares or conflicting answers. No one could explain what we were supposed to get, and the scanners barely worked. After our first meal, we rode a few attractions and, over 90 minutes later, tried to grab some fountain drinks. The staff at the counter told us we had already used our drink privileges—even though we hadn’t. The scanners constantly failed, and there was zero consistency or organization.
What made it worse was watching other guests just grab food without scanning or paying, while those of us who actually paid for the pass were left dealing with broken systems and unhelpful employees. It was chaotic, stressful, and completely unfair.
For families—especially those like ours trying to make memories with a special-needs child—this kind of experience is unacceptable. We paid extra for convenience and peace of mind, and instead we got confusion, chaos, and poor customer service.
It honestly felt like nobody cared to fix the problem. There was no manager stepping up, no one taking ownership, and no real understanding of how the program should work. When you’re spending that much money, the very least you expect is basic competence and good customer service—and Water Country failed completely.
We left feeling ripped off, disappointed, and angry. This was supposed to be a special day, but it became stressful and exhausting instead. Until Water Country trains its staff, fixes its scanners, and actually cares about the guests paying for these services, we will not be coming back—and I would warn anyone considering the All-Day Meal Pass to save your money and skip it.
Water Country—you need to do better. Families deserve better.

Not the day we ever expected - The park was beautiful. I went with my daughter and my two two granddaughters ages 7 & 8. This was their first water park experience. They loved the wave pool. The next ride the line was longer and at some point we noticed a man in his 20s or 30s had slipped in behind us. Then I heard him say to a group of 11 other adults "OH there you are, you left me" I didn't see him invite the 11 other adults to join him in line. And i do mean adults between 20 and 35 - not teens. The mother waiting behind us with her 3 daughters was now behind all of them. She asked if they would please go to the back of the line as it wasn't fair to her girls who had been waiting 40 minutes in line already. That unleashed a barrage of profanity from the group. Towards the mom and her girls. At some point my daughter turned and said could you please stop cursing? That turn the mob on us. Throughout the easily 20 minutes this went on before security arrived they cursed at us, and threatened to kill us. They said they would be waiting in the parking lot to F us up. Security for their part was slow to arrive. My granddaughters were trembling and crying hysterically even that didn't stop them. In the end that group of 12 were finally escorted away. And they assured us there would be security in the parking lot and police on the highway. We were also told we have to leave the park because "They claimed we attacked them and park security said there were no witnesses so it was our word against theirs. ??? Don't they have security footage? What about the 900 people employes and guests, who gathered to watch me trembling trying to hold the grand babies and worried what they might do to my daughter. My bet is 50 of them video taped the event.. Every time she turned around one of the "men" in the group would shove her in the back and she was scared of getting jumped from behid. If you don't mind this type of behavior then by all means go and God be with you. Never in my life have I experienced such vile evil as these people. And the park didn't make it right.

Overpriced. Overbooked. No Fun. No Help. - This place is an overpriced travesty. Have a problem? The telephone support is an hour long wait. Book a lounger? They overbook and you are SOL.
Never again!
Stay away.

Avoid Weekdays, Half the Park Will be Closed - The day began with unbridled enthusiasm and ended with the extreme dissatisfaction of the experience.
We arrived at opening and the park likes clear signage on the direction of attractions. That overall is a minimal complaint compared to the rest of the day.
The park has 10 main water slides. 4, almost half, were closed. This includes Wild Thang, Malibu Pipeline, Aquazoid Amped, and Nitro Racer Supercharged. Only Aquazoid was identified as closed on the app.
The park also had 2 areas closed, Cow-A-Bunga and the entirety of Rock 'n' Roll Island. Once again the app only identified Cow-A-Bunga as being closed.
I would not have purchased tickets had I known I would not be able to access half the slides and entire area. Rock 'n' Roll Island is also a family area and to have an entire family area closed when most guests are with family is beyond abysmal. It's a long line of complaints with current ownership.
The only way this park would be worthwhile is on weekends, but then you suffer the extreme crowds.
It was an incredibly disappointing experience.
