A truly wonderful expedience - Brilliant trip and superbly lead by Anna. Everything went extremely smoothly and Anna’s use of WhatsApp made the experience stress free. The initial 320 steps into the mines tested the thighs, but was worth it. Very informative guide led us through the mines.

An essential visit to Krakow - An essential visit to make in Krakow. The mine is exceptional in size and length of visit. You have to be in good shape because there are a lot of stairs (to go down) and corridors to go through (especially for the knees) but you go back up in the elevator. A totally different experience from coal mines both in the size of the corridors and rooms (sometimes without support wood) and dry air because of the salt. The chapels and statues are exceptional. In terms of explanations... it's a shame not to have more explanations on the evolution of extraction methods and the living conditions of miners (better explained in St Etienne in France for example). A tendency of the guide to rekindle anecdotes to relax… which ends up being tiring. We can indeed have a form of claustrophobia...but with each explanation it is useful to understand why and how this part was created. But in any case an impressive visit

Worth a visit to this unusual place - Fascinating place. Tour was efficiently conducted by a young man with excellent English. Loads of photo ops. There are loads of stairs down which aren’t hard but it is then a good 2-4 km walk mostly flat so not for those who can’t comfortably walk this. Transport - full size clean comfy Coach. Took about half hour. Easy to find pick up point. Only downside was the tour guide at the mine didn’t specify a return to coach time so after our tour we walk straight back to bus. Others were up to half hour later. Would have been a good idea to set a reasonable time for browsing the few shops or grabbing a coffee after.

Salt Mine tour - An amazing experience, we booked with Krakow Direct, a company that specialises in these sorts of trips and were very impressed with them indeed. Once we were picked up from our hotel it was only a half hour drive to the mines. Once the tour started with our English speaking tour guide we descended into the mine via a staircase of over three hundred steps, be prepared for quite a bit of walking, none i should add at any significant pace though, its all very relaxed in that respect. There are some quite breath taking statues and chapels to see on the tour as you walk along the underground tunnels, and walking into the main (most famous) Chapel can only be compared to be like something from Lord of the Rings! I'll upload a few photos so you get the general idea but to see it in real life is something quite honestly unforgettable.

Absolutely amazing place well worth a visit! - What an absolutely amazing place, well worth a visit. Isabella our tour guide was brilliant, extremely informative and quite the comedienne too, we all laughed. I have to say I was very impressed at the levels of sanitation incorporated throughout; from the taking of our temperatures at entry to the sanitising gel at every level. Also the toilets have to be the cleanest ever seen: completely spotless so well done to the cleaning staff. The steps down weren't as bad as I thought and I was glad of the lift to the top even if it was quite a cramped space. Still we all had our masks on so all good!

Mine visit - We were disappointed with the guide, we felt that her English wasn't good enough for a party of at least 30 people, so we didn't learn as much as we would have liked. Once we got to the museum we had to rush and didn't get a chance to look at the exhibits.

If you like waiting in the rain, this is the trip for you - Well … where do I begin. The coach was 30 minutes late to arrive at our designated pick up location. Which we were told to arrive 10 minutes early for. The coach dropped us a 5 minute walk away from the Salt Mines. We then had to wait half an hour in the pouring down rain to just get into the entrance. After the tour we were left without a tour guide as promised. A group of 20 of us walked back to where the coach dropped us only to find no coach and no guide. After 3 calls, another member of the group got through to tell us it was an hour wait. Half our group had been taken back without us. After over an hour wait in the rain someone came over to us and made us walk to 5 minutes train station to get the coach. When we got on the coach, the driver unbelievably laughed at us all over the speaker and proceeded to say ‘call the company if you’re unhappy’ then said we were the ‘lucky ones’ as he had actually bothered to come and pick us up. This was sold as a 4-5 hour trip and has now totalled 7 hours with no food or drink offered. Avoid this company at all costs if you are reading this!!!

Beware of using this tour operator! - Beware of using this company! We paid in full and scheduled tour weeks in advance. The evening before they canceled and now are not responding to calls or emails.

Disaster - The most memorable part of the experience was the bus driver leaving 14 people stranded after the tour to make our own way back to Karkow. We were part of the blue group with Discover Karkow and made our way back to bus stop as soon as possible after tour and were left behind. 14 people from Australia Norway England and Ireland all in a foreign country left to fend for ourselves after paying for transportation. Not acceptable.

SNAFU if I ever saw one - The most memorable part of my experience is when it didn't start at all. I stayed waiting for the promised bus at the right place 15 minutes before the right time and kept waiting for over an hour. Buses came and went, each with their list of guests. My name never appeared. Finally the street was empty, all the other two hundred people have been taken away and no more buses came. It was truly a horrible experience and I wouldn't recommend it to anyone.
