Some history worth seeing - Nice location, jam-packed with information and things to see. Definitely try the VR tour before going around the gaol. The graphics are not perfect yet but it is a great experience nonetheless and takes you into the different timezones covered along the walking tour...

Tour a gaol on holiday? Yes, do it. - We were recommended this tour by a friend who lives locally. So glad we listened and added it to our itinerary. The tour is amazing! If you can, do the virtual reality add in, it’s definitely worth the money. The whole experience is both somber and fascinating. We learned such a lot in a very interactive, informative and interesting way. The yes of various types of media makes it excellent for kids as well. I would certainly recommend this tour without hesitation. The cafe is superb also. Very friendly staff, fresh, home cooked food and, great value for money.

Good experience - Did the tour here a couple of weeks ago, went for the VR option as well and we really enjoyed it. Staff very helpful and the tour was well laid out. Well worth a visit if you're in the area although the VR option might be a bit frightening for younger children

Well worth a visit - Had day trip in Wicklow and called in for lunch. The staff were very friendly and helpful. One of the waiters even gave us advice on things to go and see in the area. The food was also of a good standard and would recommend to anyone visiting.

Fascinating and welcoming - We were made to feel very welcome by the tour guide, and given enough information to get us started but not too much to spoil it. We were given as much time as we wanted to explore and take everything in. Fascinating and such a good place to visit.

This needs to be on your list of things to do!! - Awe inspiring to walk the same halls and touch the same walls so many years (sometimes 200+) after those whose stories are so skillfully presented. A return visit for me to soak in more. The VR experience was a great addition! The staff were VERY friendly and helpful!

Very cool! - Very interesting - individual cells host different topics to learn about ranging from who was imprisoned there, the conditions of the gaol over time as well as paranormal stuff experienced there... Staff were very friendly too. Didn't eat at the restaurant so can't comment on what it was like but did seem busy. Car parking outside is quite limited so best to get there early if you want a space. Not the end of the world if it's full though as Wicklow has plenty of cheap places to park, most within walking distance (this is what I did). Would recommend!

Avoid Wicklow Town’s Gaol /Jail - Very unfriendly, unwelcoming staff. Place had no atmosphere and was dirty. The worse of all, after a boring walking around there was a dead mouse in the outside restaurant area. Avoid!!
