3 day 2 night slow boat - The standard of the guesthouse on night 1 was good and the organisation on the Thai side was very efficient. Things felt a little more chaotic after the border crossing, but it all went fine after some waiting around. The boats are fairly well organised though you do have to ask questions so you know what to do. The trip itself was a lovely calm experience in spite of our boat running aground on day 2, no danger and just a small delay, all part of the local travel experience. There is a mostly social and happy feel onboard. The 2 day 1 night passengers were much more tired and some wished they had bought the 2 night trip. All the guesthouse owners on night 2 come down to the dock to pick you up, like at an airport only in a pick-up truck. Easy to buy dinner in Pak Beng. The scenery is especially beautiful towards Luang Prabang. You buy a tuk tuk ticket and they drop all the passengers off next to the night food market in the centre of town.
