Highlights
  • Wat Rong Khun - The white temple was created by Thai artist Chalermchai Kositpipat. With the construction of the temple he has set himself a memorial and made his hometown a great gift. The Ubosot is the absolute highlight of the visit.

  • Wat Rong Seur Ten (Blue Temple) - Wat Rong Suea Ten is simply called The Blue Temple. The large ordination hall was completed in 2016 and is therefore relatively unknown to tourists. The name Suea Ten literally means dancing tiger. The temple is similarly rich in artistic value and just as fantastic in the execution like the white temple. The creators of this blue wonder were once the disciples of the builder of the White Temples

  • Baan Dam Museum - Baan Dam (Black House) is the unique creation of national artist, Thawan Duchanee. It is a part art studio and part museum. The black house is an eclectic mix of traditional northern. A collection of around 40 buildings of varying shapes and sizes dotted around a peaceful garden.

  • Union Hilltribe Villages - Longneck Karen is one of Karen tribes. They call themselves Padaung. It is believed that originally they came from Yunnan Province, central China. Later in 1000 AD according to the history, they migrated to Salween River Basin in Myanmar. In 1995, there were approximately 25,000 Padaungs living in Myanmar. They mainly live on traditional agricultural activities. After political incident against the minorities in Myanmar, Padaungs have evacuated from Myanmar and until now cannot fully identify where is the major location they are living in.

  • Choui Fong Tea Plantation - The high quality tea manufacturer for half a century.
With plantation area of over 1,000 rais in high mountain,
all teas are grown under optimal conditions then hand picked at the perfect time.

  • Golden Triangle - The Golden Triangle is a region in the Laos, Thailand and Myanmar borderlands where opium poppy is grown and processed into heroin. The significance of the Golden Triangle as a supplier to the global heroin market has dropped significantly as a result of drug production in Afghanistan.

The Golden Triangle is synonymous with opium, heroin, and drug trafficking in Southeast Asia. The term dates back to 1971. It goes back partly to the geometric shape of the triangle-forming countries Myanmar, Thailand, Vietnam and Laos, on the other probably on the gold, with the Chinese traders initially paid the opium.

  • House of Opium - The museum was founded by Patcharee Srimatyakul in 1990. Born in the area, Patcharee had a passion for collecting opium paraphernalia and memorabilia. When she noticed that opium items were becoming extremely hard to find — with Thailand cracking down on the illegal drug trade — she turned the collection into a museum open to the public.

The exhibits display tools and objects used to plant, harvest and trade opium, including pipes, scales, weights, knives, scrapers. It also includes some lovely poppy flowers, the source of opium production.

First time in Chiang Rai - Me and my partner only had 1 full day in Chiang Rai and wanted to see as much as possible. I originally came across this tour on Get Your Guide, but if you can, book with them through trip advisor as it supports the company directly. Our tour guide was informative about each site we saw and explained the history very well. Comfy transportation and chilled water throughout the whole tour! Lunch provided was buffet style and complimentary water, soft drinks and other drinks you will need to pay extra. If there was any improvements I'd say, I wish we had more time at the White temple and maybe 15mins more at Baandam. Could honestly skip on the long neck Karen walk through but it does support the village directly. I would definitely recommend this tour to anyone who is short on time or wanting to see all the best parts of Chiang Rai in one day.

Fantastic tour and good value - We did this tour in April 2024. Pick up was 30mins later than expected due to other people on the trip running late/causing a delay (no fault of the tour company). We were able to contact the tour company via phone who explained the situation and confirmed the van was on its way (it was reassuring that the tour company were contactable and responsive). Everything else went really well, we visited everywhere listed, had enough time at each stop, our guide was knowledgeable and spoke good English. Although it was a long day it didn’t feel uncomfortable as there were plenty of stops. There was a shop near the black house selling ice creams which was nice to cool down. We enjoyed every stop including the Longneck Karen village (we did not mind paying the entrance fee as it felt like it would be used to help maintain the village). There were toilets available at many of the stops. We can’t comment on the lunch provided as we had taken our own snacks. We would highly recommend this tour, it was one of the best tours we did while in Thailand.

A great day out if only short amt of time in Chiang Mai - A full day, as expected and pretty much all major tourist spots visited. The visit to Karen village seemed staged and a bit exploitative but otherwise a great day trip. Our guide Sky was informative, humorous and very welcoming.

Best Value for Top Chiang Rai Sights - The best value for your money. I was looking at traveling to each of the locations on my own by hiring a private driver or using grab and the cost was nearly triple to price offered on viator. This trip nearly packs on the top sights of Chiang rai into one day. I was promptly picked up at 8am and back by 5:30-6pm. I loved stopping at the white temple first, there was a good amount of time given (highly recommend the cave), but could’ve taken 30-60 more minutes at the white temple. Perfect amount of time to explore the blue and black temple. Okay visit to the Karen Long Neck tribe, but be prepared to pay 300 baht (maybe think of this as a donation to the tribe). The lunch is okay, it would be nice to have an option to pay for lunch at the tea plantation and have more time there to enjoy their food (it looked incredible). It starts to feel a little long after this, but it’s worth going to the gold triangle just to go and visit the house of opium. Overall, I recommend and believe this is the best tour option out there.

Great tour guide, showcasing main highlights of the area - We were lucky to only have 5 on our tour, so there was plenty of room in the van. Our tour guide was friendly, helpful and knew his history. Van was in good condition, with bottled water supplied. We stayed an ample time at each destination. The white and blue temples were great to see. The Bandam Museum was unusual and interesting. The tea plantation was nice. The highlight of the tour for me was going to the infamous Golden Triangle, something l've always looked forward to visiting. The additional border stop with Myanmar was interesting. The only thing l wouldn't recommend is the long neck village. I was in 2 minds to see it. You pay 300 baht per person for this, and really all you see is the lady with the most rings around her neck. This is interesting, but the rest of the stop here covers a row of locals using their kids to try and sell souvenirs. We didn't really learn much. Your entrance fee goes to supporting the local refugees in this village, but l don't recommend it, or think one gets much out of it. Having said that, this was completed optional and not pushed on to us to participate in. Lunch was adequate at a local restaurant. It was a long day on the road, but had frequent stops and toilet breaks at the activities. Our guide was great and overall we were very happy with the Chiang Rai highlights tour. It was well-proced. Please give the tour guide a tip, as a few dollars to us, means more to them.

Highly recommend this tour, good value for money - I loved the temples and the trip to the golden triangle and all of the beautiful views. We had an amazing guide who was very helpful and knowledgeable. I did not like the visit at the Karen long neck tribe as I thought it was more of a market rather than learning about the tribe and culture
