Fox Glacier - Spend up to 3 hours hiking on the Fox Glacier, The fly-in, fly-out heli hike combines the excitement of walking on the Te Moeka o Tuawe/Fox Glacier with the thrill of helicopter flights. By flying in you can access and explore a part of the glacier where its forces work hardest and often create spectacular ice caves and arches. You will be outfitted with boots and crampons specially designed for these ice conditions. You follow the ice steps cut by your guide as you explore the amazing formations.
Please note that this is a natural and ever-changing environment. Ice features change constantly and no guarantee can be given that specific features will be seen. This is a weather dependent trip.

Heli hike at Franz Josef - We were lucky that our trip proceeded as planned though skies appear cloudy. Heard there was no trips last few days due to weather conditions. It was an amazing experience to hike on the glacier and excited to take the helicopter for the first time. Thanks to our guide, Ryan who took us on this experience and was attentive throughout. Highly recommended!

Great experience - Our guide was excellent, explaining everything enthusiastically. I loved the hike—it wasn't too difficult and was truly a great experience. My friend which 63 years old also made it throughout the journey. When flying in the helicopter and looking down at the people waiting at the starting point, we humans appeared as small as peanuts compared to the glacier. Other guides were present to create and maintain our walking path, as the previous day's rain could cause the trail to change periodically. Shoes, socks, jacket, pants, glove and bags is provided. Recommend not to bring too much things with you. We were busy enjoying the views and taking pictures.

Best highlight for NZ! - Fantastic day out with the team!
Our original booking was cancelled 1 hour prior due to the rainy weather. Rebooking was a breeze by chatting with them through tripadvisor.
The next day all was rosy, did our weight ins and safety briefings. Crew was all very helpful and very organized to suit us up with thermals and accessories and I was amazed by the range of boots sizes they have like a skating rink! There's simply no need to bring anything other than yourself and a camera.
We had 6 groups to board 2 helicopters, as usual very organized. Spent the waiting time taking photos and talking to tour mates, didn't seem a long wait.
Our guide was Keely and she was fantastic at the safety briefings as well as guiding us. She gave us ample time for our instaworthy shots and was super encouraging when we waved off the photo opportunity. She made sure everyone have their photos!
I understimated my fear of slipping and lagged behind the group trotting slowly for safety. Keely rescued me by reassuring me it's ok to take big steps and holding my hand throughout to make sure I can keep up. Indeed I sped up 10x from her assurance that I will not fall. Super ❤️❤️❤️ to Keely!
Overall is was fun and definitely worth every penny of our money spent!

Fun. - The Fox Glacier is spectacularly stunning, walking on the ice as a dream. The climate is changing on the road, but the professional guide is reassured. Enjoy glacial cracks and blue ice holes in close proximity, feel the power of nature, an unforgettable adventure experience.

100% recommend - such a cool experience - Did this in April 2025 with a friend (both in our mid 30's). This was one of the highlights of our month long trip in New Zealand. Helicopter ride was short and smooth. We walked around and in the glacier for about 3 hours - it was incredible! Quite warm - started with hat and gloves and had them both off within 10 mins. Our weather was amazing - despite it looking cloudy/foggy in town. They provide you with warm socks, waterproof boots, crampons, jackets if need be, slush pants, and got a fleece from them to put in backpack in case it was cold (didn't need - I had a thermal long sleeve on and that was warm enough with the jacket). Our tour guide was enthusiastic and knowledgeable. The whole tour was organized. Would highly recommend! (We booked through Get Your Guide app)

Great guides make for a great trip! - This was everyone’s favorite activity we did in New Zealand! Our guide, Billy, helped make it super fun! We spent a lot of time walking around on the glacier and taking pictures. Billy set up fun opportunities for us to do, like holding on to ropes and sliding into a semi-horizontal crevasse. He also shared a lot of interesting information about the glacier and area. The helicopter ride was super fun! We highly recommend this activity!

Incredible experience, Thanks Flavia - This was an incredible experience. Our guide Flavia, took it as her responsibility to ensure that our group of twelve saw the best that the glacier had to offer, as well as explaining things about it. The service was really good. It was on time getting there and back fast and smoothly. Our helicopter pilot was almost like a tour guide, giving us info about the area. We stayed the maximum of three hours on the ice, and as a bonus the weather was great.

Fox Glacier Heli-Hike - Great trip which was running when the Franz Josef Glacier hike was cancelled. Staff and guides were all very friendly, shout out to Connor who was our group guide on the hike who was informative, sociable and assisted on the ice as required.
