Fox Glacier - Spend up to 3 hours hiking on the Fox Glacier, The fly-in, fly-out heli hike combines the excitement of walking on the Te Moeka o Tuawe/Fox Glacier with the thrill of helicopter flights. By flying in you can access and explore a part of the glacier where its forces work hardest and often create spectacular ice caves and arches. You will be outfitted with boots and crampons specially designed for these ice conditions. You follow the ice steps cut by your guide as you explore the amazing formations.
Please note that this is a natural and ever-changing environment. Ice features change constantly and no guarantee can be given that specific features will be seen. This is a weather dependent trip.

We enjoyed every minute... - We enjoyed every minute but you should be prepared for a lot of walking. The guides took it slow. Also, was not aware about bringing medication, should you have to spend the night. High light of our trip!

Extreme Heli Hike Day Trip - We had the best day - would recommend to anyone!! The day was incredible, from start to send. The full day experience is definitely worth it. The guides (Stretch and Jimmy) were outstanding. My mum was quite afraid of heights but they made her feel at ease and we both had an excellent day — they were very supportive, knowledge and great fun!

Incredible experience - 10/10 recommend - This was an incredible experience and our guide (Connor) had lots of great information about the glacier but made the trip fun! Would 100% recommend to anyone travelling the South Island - one not to miss!

Amazing glacier experience - After our heli-hike on Franz Josef glacier was cancelled due to bad weather, we were encouraged to call Fox Glacier Guides. We are so glad we did! We were able to snag two spots on one of their tours, and had an amazing time. Keely was an excellent guide! She was very knowledgeable about the glacier and extremely friendly. As it turns out, the Franz Josef heli-hikes often get canceled due to weather, as they are higher in elevation. If you just have one day in the area, save yourself the worrying of will it get cancelled and book with Fox!

Give this man a raise - After a disappointing start to our day in Franz Josef, where our Heli Hike was cancelled last minute. We looked elsewhere for our once in a lifetime experience ( Except for our old friend who was here sometime last century ).
It was as if the glacier itself was calling to us. We parted ways with Franz Josef and called forward to the mighty Fox. A cheerful Libby answered the phone, more than happy to help, obtaining our group of four a last minute booking!
Jumping back into our metal steeds we zoomed to Fox glacier!
Upon arrival we were met with the friendly fox team, who geared us up and got us on our way. We were told our guide “Toa” would meet us at the top!
Strong believers in everything happens for a reason our hopes were high.
Toa met us at the helicopter and we were straight into the action! Our group of four was treated to our own private tour, led by the best guide on the glacier! Leading us through the glacier with knowledge, experience and laughter our tour was truly one to remember! Toa definitely making the trip! To cap it off we were the last group on the glacier, having it all to ourselves and even more so a final heli flight, where the pilot gave us an “orbit” up the glacier face! One for the memory bank for sure! Fox over Franz forever!!

Incredible - Incredible from start to finish. The guide was extremely knowledgeable and were able to do a couple of slides in the features that were currently showing in the Ice 100% would recommend and do again.

Amazing Fox Glacier heli hike - Great experience! We’re also happy we didn’t try to do a Franz Joseph heli hike as the helipad is at a much higher altitude and most of their flights get canceled due to weather (even though it’s a sunnier glacier). Amazing experience to be on a glacier next to a rainforest (unique to New Zealand)! Our guide Brontë was the best!

Worth every penny! - Serena was our AWESOME guide and was very safety oriented. She also watched her group carefully to be sure no one was in difficulty and kept an eye out for weaker members.She was always encouraging and affirming. We saw crevices, manu holes and she dug stairs for us to hike down into canyons and see tunnels (never have ice over your head).
Our helicopter pilot was also amazing. It was wonderful flying between the mountains and over the glacier. She set us down so smoothly we didn’t even realize we had landed.

Excellent experience - Really exciting experience! Due to the weather we got our trip cancelled and rescheduled to a later time for the same day. Then we successfully landed on ice and have a wonderful hike on the glacier. It
