Highlights
  • Mount Victoria - We stop at Wellington’s most popular lookout point where you will obtain majestic views over the city and harbour.
  • Weta Workshop - Immerse yourself in the magical world of movie making and special effects at the Weta Cave.
  • Massey Memorial - View the majestic memorial and tomb of the resting place of former Prime Minister William Massey and his wife Christina.
  • Scorch O Rama - Lunch and a choice of beverage at this iconic Eastern Bays Cafe.
  • Wahine Memorial - We visit several memorials at Seatoun and Breaker Bay to 51 people who tragically lost their lives on 10 April 1968 from the sinking of the Inter Island Ferry Wahine. In fact a further 2 people were to die after the tragedy as a result of injuries sustained on that fateful day.
  • Ataturk Memorial - We visit the Mustafa Kemal Atatürk memorial, the first President of the Republic of Turkey above Breaker Bay. The memorial looks out over Cook Strait and the site was chosen for its remarkable likeness to the landscape of the Gallipoli Peninsula
in Turkey. The memorial is particularly poignant for Australian, New Zealand and Turkish visitors who commemorate the ANZAC Gallipoli campaign during World War 1.
  • Wellington Wind Turbine - View Wellington’s first wind turbine and take in another majestic view of the city and harbour.
  • Pukeahu National War Memorial Park - Visit the Tomb for the Unknown Solider and pay our respects to all New Zealand service men and women who paid the ultimate sacrifice.
  • Wellington Cable Car - Take a ride on Wellington’s long standing, iconic tourist attraction - the Wellington Cable Car.
Your guide will take you to the entry point and then meet you up at your final destination - Kelburn.
  • Lady Norwood Rose Garden - We take a walk through the magnificent Lady Norwood Rose Garden located in the Wellington Botanical Gardens.
When the roses are not in bloom a short walk in the gardens can be taken.
  • New Zealand Parliament - We have a brief walk around the Parliament grounds where your guide will point out the iconic ‘Beehive’, Houses of Parliament and the Parliamentary Library building.
  • Old St Paul’s - Built between 1865 and 1866 Old St Pauls Cathedral is one of the best examples of Gothic Revival architecture in the world. The Cathedral is particularly poignant for American visitors. A large contingent of the American Marine Corp were based in and around Wellington in 1942 and many Marines would attend Sunday services. The American Marine Corp flag and the American national flag of that time with 48 stars hang proudly inside the Cathedral.

Best Wellington tour guide - Wellington was a great city to visit. Although the weather was not very favorable that day, but our tour guide Tom from Kaewa Tours made it very special. He was very accommodating, gracious, friendly and informative. We had a bunch of awesome pictures which he took by himself and compiled for us. He accommodated our request to change the itinerary for that day due to heavy rains, and he made it possible and made sure that we enjoyed. If you happen to visit Wellington, I strongly recommend Kaewa Tours to handle your tour and prepare the itinerary for you. We viewed Te Papa and the QT Hotel and marvelled how the QT Hotel was moved on rails to make way for Te Papa to be built. Waterfront walk where we put ourselves for "I" in the WELL_NGTON sign, viewed the city from virtual sculpture – now you have Halos! Lambton Quay: On the left-hand side of the Quay was the original shoreline in January 1855. An 8.2 earthquake resulted in the land being uplifted. Parliament Buildings and Grounds: We viewed the iconic ‘Beehive’, Houses of Parliament and the Parliamentary Library building. Old St Pauls where Paddy took us on a guided tour through Wellington’s first Anglican Cathedral which was built in 1866. Here the American and Marine Corp flags have proudly hung since World War 2. We drove past the official Prime Ministers residence on Tinakori Road, Thorndon – Premier House. We drove down Bolton Street where the motorway went through the original settlers cemetery - Bolton Cemetery requiring the relocation of over 3,000 graves. We attempted to visit Space Place adjacent to the Cable Car but unfortunately it was closed for maintenance. We visited national museum, Te Papa.

What a day to remember-Wellington at it’s finest. - The entire day of touring with our guide Tom was so delightful. Tom is so knowledgeable about New Zealand and the entire Wellington area. There wasn't one question we asked that he didn't have an answer for. And the best part was that he took all the photos our group ever needed so I could relax and just soak up all the fantastic scenery and energy. And the other best thing that I have never had a tour guide do was send a summary of the entire day’s activities so i had it for my memory book. Absolutely THE BEST guide ever. And the lunch at Scorch Bay-Scorch ORama was the best. And an incredible view of the bay.

Comprehensive private tour - For a comprehensive overview of Wellington, with private insights from an informed guide, this is the place. Bryce made sure we did the must-sees like the waterfront, Parliament and a ride on the cable car, but made sure we had breathtaking views of the City from all sides which gave a great orientation not just to the history, but to the geography of Wellington.

Wonderful experience! - Tom was a delight to be with and we had a wonderful time seeing the sights of Wellington. He even went out of his way to hire a particular vehicle we needed for a disabled friend, which no one else would do! Thank you Tom for going above and beyond for us. Highly recommended!
