Worth every cent! - The Eco tour with Julie was amazing and so informative, even though the rain didn’t abate, the experience was worth it! Such a fabulous visit!

Stunning slice of 100% Pure New Zealand in the 💚 of the City - Our guide was able to point out many facts, details and wildlife that we would have missed. This really made the visit exponentially better and was well worth the additional fees. Nana Dad and 4year old. Wonderful native regenerating park with amazing ethos and commitment. 10/10 Will come again!

Awesome!! - This place is awesome. Saw so many native birds and other species. We had Oliver as our guide who was so knowledgeable and great. Sadly didn’t get to see Takahe as there are only 2 at the moment, but seeing so much Kaka made up for it. I would highly recommend the Guided tour as you learn so much and get such an in depth experience!

Fantastic tour in a fabulous location, a must for tuatara fans! - Our guide, Roy, took us on a fascinating walk around Zealandia, setting out the aims and achievements of the sanctuary and bringing them to life. His knowledge of flora and fauna seemed limitless, and was explained in a way that suited all ages and nationalities on the tour. The walk was well-paced and included a dam and suspension bridge, which added to the variety of the activity and even brought a degree of exhilaration. (Not ideal for people who are very scared of heights, and also NB that some of the tracks are quite steep and/or rough, so this tour wouldn't suit those using walking aids). There was more focus on trees/plants than animals/birds, probably due to the fact that it was daytime and some of the wildlife is nocturnal (so you won't see a kiwi on this tour), but the undoubted personal highlight was seeing tuataras of several ages up close. This was really special and something that can't be done in many other places around the world! The cafe was good too (though had run out of the daily special before 1pm), and there is a decent shop. Highly recommend overall, and will return for a night-time visit next time I'm in Wellington

Amazing experience - Zealandia is a must see experience. It is an amazing nature preserve. Our 2 hour tour guide, Johnny, was excellent. We would not have been able to see most of the birds if not for his knowledge about the place.

Absolutely Amazing - We had a fantastic experience at Zealandia. We were with a tour group. We had guided tours, which started at 8:30am (may actually have been earlier than that). I’m not sure if this time is available to the general public. We had 2 groups of 12, and the guides made it a point not to run up on each other, so it was like we were in the park by ourselves. The guides were extremely knowledgeable. The development of the park is so interesting, and they were intimately familiar with the birds in the park. We got where we could hear them and then see them. It was amazing. This was towards the end of a 3 week trip to NZ, and it was such a great “summary” of the conservation efforts made in this wonderful country, and the “bush” as it existed when humans arrived. Even the development of the predator fence was an interesting and critical story. I did notice the crowds starting to build up as we were getting close to leaving around 10:30am. I would assume that the experience is still interesting, but perhaps less magical, if you come later—more crowds, and probably less birds, than we had. But I wouldn’t have traded this experience for anything.
