• Wellington Railway Station - Guests will be picked up at 9.15am from the port (for cruise ship passengers only, please inform us if this applies to you) or at 9.30am from Wellington Station. A shuttle will transport you to the trail’s starting point.
• Remutaka Rail Trail - Kaitoke - The adventure begins at Kaitoke, the starting point for the 28km Remutaka Rail Trail ride. Cyclists will journey through the Pakuratahi Forest, rich with native birds. The trail follows an old railway line, crossing bridges and passing through tunnels. Take a moment to explore information stations that highlight the monumental effort of building the “Fell” railway system, a pioneering project in New Zealand and one of the few worldwide. Upon reaching the summit, enjoy a picnic lunch on a spacious grassy plateau near the remains of a historic station. After lunch, experience an exciting yet manageable descent to Cross Creek in the Wairarapa, offering views of New Zealand’s beautiful farming landscapes. Continue through the countryside to Featherston, where you’ll be met at the Royal Hotel.
• Wairarapa - Guests will be collected from the Royal Hotel in Featherston and shuttled back over the Remutaka ranges, through the Hutt Valley, returning to Wellington Station (arriving approximately 3.30-3.45pm) or Wellington Port (for cruise ship passengers only, arriving approximately 3.45-4.00pm).

Please note: Cruise ship passengers will be picked up directly from the Port at 9.15am. The shuttle cannot wait for late arrivals, so please be punctual to avoid being left behind. Return to the Port is scheduled between 3.45pm and 4pm. Ensure your sailing schedule accommodates these times, as we cannot be held responsible for missed departures.

Pedal through native forests, cross bridges, and navigate tunnels while taking in the breathtaking views of the landscape and historic railway system. Relish a delightful picnic lunch at the Summit before enjoying an exhilarating descent to Cross Creek in the Wairarapa, known for some of New Zealand’s most picturesque farmland. Continue through the countryside to the Royal Hotel in Featherston.

Everything needed for this adventure is provided, including transport to and from Wellington, eBikes equipped with trunk bags for personal items, and all meals. Simply dress appropriately and be ready to ride!

Please note, this tour is designed for eBikes. If a Mountain Bike is preferred, please choose the ‘Remutaka Rail Trail Mountain Bike Explorer Cycle Tour’ instead.

• Trips are subject to favorable weather conditions. If canceled due to poor weather, you will be given the option of an alternative date or full refund at your discretion.
• Which pickup location would you like to be picked up from? Choose from either 9.15 Wellington Port (cruise ship guests only) or 9.30 Wellington Station (main entrance)
• Please wear appropriate clothing for outdoor activity. During the warmer months, this means shorts and a t-shirt for riding, and a light jacket in reserve. During the colder months you may prefer long pants or tights (nothing baggy that may catch on the bike!), with a tshirt, fleece and light jacket in reserve. Closed shoes - running shoes are perfect - must be worn at all times.
