Definitely coming back. - Light trail was stunning. Especially for our 2½ yrs old girl.
We booked hotel room for a night.
Absolutely outstanding customer service we received from Ellie. We stayed in lodge (after heating in our room failed to work). Amazing experience all thanks to Ellie.
Restaurant is not cheapest but food was delicious.

Amazing way to celebrate - We stayed in the Peacock room in the Caesar tower. It was for a special birthday and it didn’t disappoint. The staff were attentive from booking to leaving. Nothing was too much trouble. We loved the experience especially the secret bits of the castle, the four poster bed. Imagining who had been in the tower before us.
Not cheap but worth every penny

Skating in a magical atmosphere - Took the girls skating - the youngest had never been before. Such a magical place to skate and very local to us. Managed to get a mid week price tickets so made it very affordable. Lost one star for being very wet in places which I appreciate it not completely within their control but we had a lot of rain and it seems it had been left to accumulate. Worth the value price though and it was a magical evening.

Warwick castle and light trail review - We had been wanting to return to Warwick castle for a while, our last visit was in 2018.
We were mainly coming for the birds of prey and the light show.
We looked around the castle which is still looking as good as it did when we last visited in 2018.
Last time we came you could view the different birds of prey on their perches before the birds of prey show. We couldn’t find them so asked a member of staff who said they haven’t done that since Covid and now you can only see the birds at the bird flying show. Gutted! That’s what we came for: my daughter loves birds of prey and wanted to see all the birds. We did still get to see a selection on the flying show but we would have gone somewhere else if we knew you couldn’t view them on their perches anymore. It was a long way to travel for us (4 hour drive). We stayed to do the light trail after the castle had closed which was good. Been to a couple this year and this was the best one we had been too.

Disappointing - Booked online for the castle and skating. However due to the bad weather the skating rink was closed. Upon arrival we were offered an alternative time for skating later same day so we decided to continue our visit around the castle. However most of the usual attractions ie dungeons were also closed.
We were told by staff that we needed to email to get a refund on our tickets which I subsequently did. However it took 3 days for a reply and no offer of alternative visit for the castle. we have only been offered a refund on the skating part of our ticket which can take 3 weeks!! Also despite the rainy day policy we were told it was manager discretion to offer alternative date despite the fact it was heavy rain for most of the morning and skate rink closed due to excess rain on the ice!! Shame on you Warwick Castle for terrible customer service.

Very expensive for what it has to offer, never again - Incredibly expensive when you buy the tickets from the website without a pack. Ice rink was incredibly crowded and dangerous, light trail really unimpressive, parts of the castle open were nice, but the rest, never again.

Poor customer service - We went when it was strong winds. The light show was cancelled and we were told we get a refund. This was the 7th December and still no refund. I am waiting for over £80 to be returned and all I get is automated responses. In addition my daughter spent her pocket money on a bow and arrow from the shop which broke within 5 minutes of using it. I was advised I would be sent a replacement and guess what? It hasn’t been sent and I just keep getting responses which say it will be sent and it hasn’t. Such a shame as this has really made me not want to return. Please sort your customer services out and return money that you have promised.

Shocking Customer Service - Avoid - Shocking!
The castle and grounds are of course beautiful, but the service received from staff - both during and since our visit, is appalling.
We visited during the very strong winds in early December, so it was entirely reasonable that the Light Walk was cancelled on safety grounds. But as we paid extra for that, we are due a refund for that particular activity
We initiated the claim for refund immediately, and now 6 weeks later, we’re still being ignored. We receive automated emails requesting out booking details, which we provide. We’re then told that we’ll receive out refund within 21 days ( it left our account immediately when we booked it!!). Then, 21 days passes with no refund, so we try to contact them again. Only for them to request our booking information again “because they can find no record of our previous claim”. This has happened through 2 complete 21 day cycles so far and still no refund.
Their customer service is appalling. There are plenty of beautiful historic building to visit in the Midlands and wider U.K. I recommend you choose every other one before you even consider paying any money to Warwick Castle.
If you hand them your money, and something goes wrong, you’ll never even get to speak to someone, let alone get your money back.
Avoid at all costs (literally!)

Shocking Prices and Disregard for customer experience and safety! - I attended on 30/12 for an ice skating session followed by a light trail.
As a Merlin pass holder , I got a slight discount on the tickets, but even still found them too dear for the experience.
Ice skating was very disappointing , firstly positives -
Beautiful backdrop
Quick to get on ice
Negatives-
Rink too small for who was attending
Far too many ice skating aids allowed on, you couldn’t skate , without being behind or going into one, it meant anyone who could skate, were constantly queuing !
It was also unsafe due to how many and I witnessed a few falls.
People going in all different directions trying to get some space -making it even more dangerous.
I had booked for a Christmas treat as per title ,’ Christmas at the castle’ -music was awful dance . We asked if we could have a few Christmas songs to the organisers at the side and they refused . They said that was before Christmas -not now…. Very disappointing and took away some
Of the magic .
Light trail was beautiful , I enjoyed walking through , however a couple of niggles…
Very crowded , meaning queuing again…..
Nice Christmas songs !
Very dark in parts with some uneven ground-could be an issue for some with mobility issues. We needed to turn on a torch . -no signs or anyone to point this out.
The worse issue was the food vans in the middle ! ( not the market by the castle , these were high also -but midway through the walk) There were only a few and the prices were shocking !! I think they should be reported to trading standards!
A hot chocolate was 6.75!! I’ve never seen anything like it -my daughter is older and said she would happily wait as she couldn’t believe the price , but younger children may have been upset… i was very disappointed with Warwick castle for allowing it…
Also at the end marshmallow sticks to toast 5.00 !! This was shocking … as they had 3 marshmallows on a stick -what a greedy mark up!
I’ve been to luminate in coombe abbey before and much more reasonable prices. For this reason , I wouldn’t return or recommend ….
It could have been so much better but Warwick castle are taking advantage and that’s sad to see as it’s not a cheap experience -without any extras

Rubbish - We brought standard tickets with light trail. We walked around the castle in about 15 mins, very pretty inside, but incredibly boring for children. All of the Christmas experiences for the kids were add on. I was disappointed they were all fully booked, but assumed there would be other things to do to keep us entertained. Unfortunately not!
We stood around the food area to try and pass time before we could go into the light trail. There was not much choice and it was incredibly poor quality and overpriced. There were only a few small shops to potter around in to pass the time too and there was nothing worth buying. It was all just the normal Warwick castle things and nothing Christmassy about it, just the odd tree decoration.
At this point we had ran out of things to do already and we still had an hour before the light trail. Our 4 year old was so bored and it started raining. There was no cover apart from the small area by the entrance of the ice rink so we stood under there, whilst loosing the will to live. I find it baffling that an event in December hasn’t thought about providing places of cover, when there’s a very good chance there will be bad weather at some point. We could have stood inside the castle for an hour, but doing what? Our sons 4, there was nothing in there for him and we had already walked it twice.
We walked over to the light trail at 4pm because we couldn’t keep the kids entertained any longer and we were told to get in the que because it gets busy. Got into the que and then we were told by a different person to get out, the que was for Santa.
The family behind got involved and were clearly frustrated too. We had enough by this point so decided to call it a day, as did the family next to us.
The lady then ran back to us whilst we were leaving and said we could actually join the que. We declined the offer.
A friend there stayed and said it’s a good job we left. She said the lights were so pathetic it was actually hysterical and she turned back around and left not long after starting the walk.
The issue here was ‘add ons’ are normally exactly that, optional add ons to enhance an already great experience. Unfortunately, the ‘add ons’ were actually the whole experience and without them, there was nothing to do. For the price, it’s disgraceful.
