- Warsaw Ghetto - Completely obliterated in 1943, the site still offers much to see: the Rappaport monument honoring the ghetto’s heroes, the location of Mila 18 where the uprising leaders’ bunker stood, 19 memorial stones commemorating the involvement of Polish Jews in Warsaw’s tragic wartime history, the Umschlagplatz memorial at the site of the former railway station from which deportations to the Treblinka extermination camp commenced, and the recently established, dynamic Museum of the History of Polish Jews, known as Polin.

Join me for a 4-hour exploration of Warsaw, a journey that combines both driving and walking. Warsaw is a beautifully green and tidy city, and our tour includes a visit to the 18th-century Lazienki Park. Here, you can meander and appreciate pavilions and palaces enveloped by lush greenery. We will travel down the Royal Route, a road that has been meticulously reconstructed post-WWII to match its original historical blueprint. We will also wander through the Old Town of Warsaw, another area resurrected to its former glory and now a UNESCO cultural heritage site despite its reconstructed nature. Key sites like the birthplace of Madame Curie and the residence of Chopin are also included in our tour, alongside the area that was once the ghetto.
Our tour showcases the stark contrasts of Warsaw, from remnants of the pre-war era to districts that remain in a socialist-realist style, and even the modern downtown area often referred to as ‘Warsaw Manhattan’. Don’t miss out on Warsaw Prague on the other side of the Vistula river, where a traditional market still operates and the renowned movie ‘The Pianist’ by Polanski was filmed.
