- Yehliu Geopark - Yehliu Geopark stands as one of northern Taiwan’s top attractions, showcasing a variety of unique geological formations sculpted by wind and sea. While the park is renowned for the iconic Queen’s Head, visitors can also explore other fascinating formations such as Sea Candles, Fairy Shoe, Ginger Rocks, and Princess’ Head. As the park is an open and exposed area with minimal shelter, it is essential to be prepared for the weather. In winter, the strong northeast monsoon can be quite cold and brisk. During summer, the sun is intense, so wearing sun-protective clothing or carrying an umbrella and staying hydrated is highly recommended.
- Yangmingshan National Park - On the journey into Yangmingshan National Park, there is a chance to spot Formosan macaques. With an elevation ranging from approximately 700 to 1,000 meters, the park is slightly cooler than the city. The main attractions include Qingtiangang Grassland and Xiaoyoukeng Recreation Area.
- Qingtiangang Grassland - Situated atop Yangmingshan National Park, Qingtiangang is an expansive, flat grassland offering breathtaking panoramic views. At an elevation of around 800 meters, the temperature is slightly cooler than the city, making it perfect for a leisurely walk or a picnic.
During the Japanese occupation, this area was developed as a ranch for cattle grazing. Today, visitors can still see wild water buffalo and other wildlife grazing peacefully. Due to its high altitude, the area is often enveloped in clouds and mist, creating a unique and ethereal beauty.
- Xiaoyoukeng Recreation Area - Positioned on the northwestern corner of Mt. Qixing at an elevation of about 805 meters, Xiaoyoukeng is a post-volcanic geological park where active volcanic phenomena can be observed firsthand. As visitors approach, they can see steam vents and detect the distinct scent of sulfur from the volcanic activity. This area primarily serves as a viewing platform, so there is no need to walk far to enjoy the stunning scenery.

Great tour! - This was fantastic! Our tour guide Henry was very friendly and knowledgeable. We really enjoyed seeing the natural beauty in this tour. Highly recommended!

Beautiful views and great explanation - My wife and I did this tour with the guide Aaron. It was amazing! On the drive from the city, he explained metros, the suburbs vs city living, mopeds, and more. He went above and beyond to answer any questions we had about Taipei or information he felt important to share. Despite it being extremely hot and humid, Aaron took his time taking pictures of us at the geopark and making jokes along the way. After exploring the beautiful rocks, we drove up to the grasslands where we saw baby buffalo and much more. Once again, Aaron took his time to take pictures and even hike with us to a viewpoint. We also stopped at the sulfur pits, flower path, and at his mom’s favorite restaurant to try mountain chicken. Although we are fairly experienced travelers, it was well worth it to have a careful driver, photographer, and guide like Aaron.

Great experience! - We went with Sean, who was a great tour guide! We enjoyed the short hikes and the weather on this special day. Going in a car means not being at some of these locations when lots of people are getting off the bus at the same time, so you have some time at these magical places to yourselves.

Very educational tour - Nicolas, my tour guide was very knowledgeable and service oriented. He was great at pointing out things throughout the trip. His driving skills were also great. He was able to answer all of my questions including things i asked about that i saw on the drive. I would advise spending the majority of your time at the geo park, especially if it rains on the day of your tour. He also gave some additional information about other opportunities in Taiwan.

Excellent half day tour of Yangmingshan and Yehliu Parks! - Enjoyed our tour with Toku (our guide). He shared a lot of information and took awesome photos of our group which was very much appreciated. The lunch place he suggested was delicious - enjoyed the dimsum! Also, we enjoyed riding his Tesla car!

A relaxing trip to nature! - Went with my brother, and it was great to have a private tour with just our guide Sean! He answered all our questions, and provided background to the different sites. It was great getting away from the crowded city, and enjoying nature early in the morning before other visitors arrived.
There are a couple of places to buy food/snacks in the Yangmingshan park area. A definite highlight to our trip, was seeing the amazing formations at Yehliu!

Yangminshan National Park Tour with Richelle - We booked the Yangminshan half day private tour with Richelle in October 2024. She was an amazing guide! The day of our trip it was very rainy and the higher parts of the national park were clouded (basically we could not see a thing through the clouds), which is why we could not visit 2 of the stops of the trip (the grasslands and another point). However, Richelle found amazing alternatives for the 2 spots on lower parts of the mountain. We appreciated her quick thinking, flexibility and creativity. We really recommend Richelle!

Fantastic day - Our guide, Nicolas Ying, was fantastic.
We had to be flexible due to very rainy and windy conditions. But we were able to devise some changes that allowed everyone to have wonderful time--despite the unfavorable weather.
